Jalen McMillan: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Wide Receiver Dynasty Outlook

Jalen McMillan was drafted out of the University of Washington in the third round (92nd pick) to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. McMillan got off to a slow start but broke out after the season-ending injury to Chris Godwin. With Godwin potentially leaving for free agency in the offseason, what is Jalen McMillan’s dynasty outlook?

Dynasty Outlook for Jalen McMillan

Recent Production

McMillan had a slow start to the season, only having at least four receptions once in the first 13 weeks. He missed a couple of games due to injury in that span as well. However, he did catch a 32-yard touchdown in the first game of the season, but that was his only catch in Week 1. McMillan’s breakout started in Week 14. He has four straight weeks with at least 16 fantasy points.

He caught only four or five passes in each game but had at least one touchdown in each. McMillan has become quarterback Baker Mayfield’s second favorite target behind Mike Evans. He has even moved ahead of tight end Cade Otton, who missed two games during that span. On Yahoo, McMillan finished on 23% of championship teams, which was the highest among all players.

McMillan Dynasty Price

According to KeepTradeCut, McMillan is currently the WR44 in dynasty, which is one behind Cooper Kupp and one ahead of Jauan Jennings. He is the 107th overall player in dynasty, but his ranking has increased by 59 spots in the last month. McMillan is worth slightly less than a mid-second-round pick in a 2025 rookie draft.

McMillan Dynasty Outlook

McMillan’s dynasty outlook depends on if the Buccaneers decide to re-sign Chris Godwin or sign another wide receiver in free agency. If not, McMillan will enter 2025 as the WR2 on the Bucs behind Evans. Evans is 31 years old himself, and he will eventually start to decline, putting McMillan in the position to be the top wide receiver on the team soon. McMillan just turned 23 in early December and has three years left on his rookie deal.

Mayfield is signed for two more years, meaning the Buccaneers offense should be in good shape in the near future. Mayfield has back-to-back seasons with over 4000 passing yards and will top 40 passing touchdowns in 2024. McMillan will be a solid wide receiver on a great offense.

What to Do With Jalen McMillan in Dynasty Leagues:

If Godwin does not resign with the Buccaneers, McMillan’s price will skyrocket. He will be a favorite redraft sleeper among analysts in 2025. However, if the 28-year-old Godwin does resign, McMillan will be stuck behind two very good veteran wide receivers, which will make it hard for him to put up production.

With how well McMillan has played recently, it is worth the risk to try to acquire McMillan early in the offseason before Godwin makes his decision when the price to trade for McMillan is lower. Don’t wait for Godwin to sign with another team, because then current dynasty owners of McMillan will not want to trade him away. McMillan will be one of the top breakout candidates in 2025 and has a very bright future ahead of him.
