Blake Miller has been a dominant offensive tackle for Clemson all three years he’s been there and could enter the upcoming draft cycle. Here is a 2025 NFL Draft Early Scouting Report and film analysis on him.
Overview, Film Analysis, and Early 2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report of Clemson OL Blake Miller
Measurables:
- 6’6”
- 315 lbs
Player Background:
Blake Miller committed to Clemson as a fringe Top-250 prospect in the 2022 class as a three-star recruit out of Strongsville HS in Ohio. He shined in his first fall camp and became a starter in his first season with the Tigers. He started all 14 of the team’s contests en route to being labeled one of college football’s future stars. In said games, he played 989 snaps and posted a 71.8 PFF grade.
A well-known returning starter in 2023, he picked up right where he left off. He was on the field for 13 games, all of which he started, and played 960 total snaps. His PFF grade subtly rose, up to 72.9 on the year. Miller has started 11 games so far in 2024, to essentially the same result. His PFF grade has basically stayed the same at 72.3 and has continued to be a powerful presence along their line.
Accolades:
- Freshman All-American (2022)
- All-ACC Third Team (2023)
Strengths/Pros:
The Tigers’ right tackle is built like an NFL player and he moves like one too. Miller’s flexibility is well above average and there’s an overall fluidity to his game that few players his age have. He shows impressive athleticism throughout plays and has violent and strong arms. His drive is noticeably powerful, and he will rotate to move defenders out of the play.
He does a good general job of keeping his leverage and using his arms to fend off rushers. Miller’s hands are quick and violent, stiffing defenders away from his body and keeping them off balance. He gathers well after getting moved off his anchor and can re-adjust to keep the pocket clean. He’s disciplined and knowledgeable on the outside, disengaging at the right time to avoid penalties.
Weaknesses/Cons:
Miller’s biggest current issue is both his angles to defenders and inconsistencies in sticking them. He moves past rushers too much in the run game and tries to move into better positions too much. He doesn’t attack with as much urgency as one would hope for and is too patient all around. His angles to defenders are often poor and he relies on his athleticism quite frequently when in open field.
He stutters too much on his kick step and lets EDGEs get to his outside hip rather swiftly. His kick step can also be too rigid and short at times. Miller lets defenders get too much depth on him and is prone to getting bullrushed. His anchor could be much stronger, and he gets thrown off balance a lot. His hand placement is very iffy, and he tends to get around the pads instead of under them.

NFL Projection:
Whether or not Miller declares for the draft is still unknown, and there are legitimate reasons for both options. If he were to enter the 2025 cycle, he would likely be seen as a more developmental project than an immediate impact player. He has an abundance of high-level traits that teams could supplement into him becoming an above-average starter but would need some time to come into his own.
