New York Giants superstar offensive tackle Andrew Thomas suffered a foot injury that is likely season-ending. This is devasting for Thomas himself, but this diagnosis could effectively spell the end of the Giants season. At 2-4 in the bottom of the NFC East, New York’s playoff hopes were already dangling by a thread. Quarterback Daniel Jones improved from 2023, but he’s still one of the worst starters in football. He’ll be even worse without Thomas, as the offensive lineman is the best player on offense and is one of the game’s elite tackles.
The Giants will try to win despite the Andrew Thomas injury, but they’re only prolonging the inevitable. This team is going nowhere fast, and they should trade someone like running back Devin Singletary to the highest bidder. With fifth-round rookie Tyrone Tracy looking like the real deal, New York should punt on the season and send their veteran back to whichever team gives them the most draft capital. Singletary won’t net too large a return, but teams like the Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints could use him.

Giants Could Trade Devin Singletary to Saints, Ravens After Andrew Thomas Injury
Let’s start with an obvious disclaimer: Devin Singletary is not better than Derrick Henry. The two-time rushing leader might be getting up there in years, but that hasn’t stopped him from playing like the best back in football. Through six games, the former second-round pick leads the league in carries (119), yards (794), and touchdowns (eight) while averaging an absurd 5.9 yards per carry. At 4-2, Henry and Lamar Jackson are leading what might just be the league’s most unstoppable offense. However, the depth behind Henry could use some help, and trading for Devin Singletary could shore up one of the few weaknesses on this roster.
Justice Hill recently signed an extension, but he’s much better off as a situational player and special teams expert. Perhaps 2023 undrafted free agent Keaton Mitchell can return and recapture his breakout form, but that’s anything but a guarantee. Devin Singletary might not be the flashiest player in the league, but the former third-round pick is an adequate starter who could handle starting duties if something happens to Henry. With Andrew Thomas injured, the Giants and Ravens both have every reason to try and work out a trade.
Salvaging the Saints
After a 2-0 start, the New Orleans Saints dropped four straight games as a seemingly endless wave of injuries crushed the roster. Over half of New Orleans’ Week 1 starting offense has missed some time to injury, and Alvin Kamara isn’t the picture of health himself. The five-time Pro Bowler is battling hip, ribs, and hand injuries and could use someone to split carries. Unfortunately, the Saints don’t have someone like that on the roster, which could lead to a Devin Singletary trade.
Even though the Saints and Giants have the same record, New York is far more likely than New Orleans to sell after the Andrew Thomas injury. Head coach Dennis Allen will not return in 2024 if he can’t bring this team to the playoffs, so he’ll pull out all the stops to keep this ship afloat. Perhaps he’d even be willing to trade Kendre Miller in a rare player-for-player swap.
