The mash unit of Carson Steele, Samaje Perine, and Kareem Hunt will attempt to stabilize a running game, while Mahomes utilizes the duo of Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy. Kansas City will also strive to help star Travis Kelce emerge from his slow start to the season.
Much of the Chargers’ 2024 success will be dictated by Herbert’s ability to fulfill lofty expectations. Unfortunately for the Los Angeles, their injury concerns extend well beyond their star quarterback. Starters Joey Bosa, Otito Ogbonnia, Kristian Fulton, Ja’Sir Taylor, Joe Alt, Trey Pipkins III, Rashawn Slater, and Joshua Palmer are all listed as questionable on the club’s injury report. For context, that includes three of their five starting offense lineman, two starters in their secondary, and their best pass rusher.
If even half of these players are unavailable (or limited) it will put an already undermanned Los Angeles team at an even bigger disadvantage. This AFC West matchup will be loads of fun when both clubs are at full strength. Unfortunately, the Chargers are far from 100%.

This should leave Steele in a great position to crush the over on his 40.5 rushing yards line.

Using the same game script argument, this would be an ideal week for wide receiver Xavier Worthy to surpass his measly 0.5 rushing yards line. The blazing rookie already has five rushing attempts over the clubs first three games, for a total of 39 rushing yards (13 per carry).
If Head Coach Andy Reid gives Worthy even a single rushing attempt, whether it come as their Chiefs build a lead, or as they churn through the clock, he will be a lock to surpass this over.
For the record, if Herbert and the majority of his supporting cast is able to recover and play, the closer game script also yields well to more offensive ingenuity for the Chiefs. This is a smart bet under any circumstances.
