11-year veteran safety Jordan Poyer signed a new contract with the Miami Dolphins. Poyer, a one-time Pro Bowler, spent the 2023 season with the Buffalo Bills but has also played for the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns.

Poyer played in 16 games in 2023 for the Buffalo Bills but was released on March 6th as Buffalo attempted to address some significant salary cap issues for the 2024 season.
The Philadelphia Eagles drafted Poyer as a cornerback in the seventh round in 2013. Poyer spent just six weeks at Lincoln Financial Field before the then-Eagles head coach Chip Kelly moved him to the practice squad. The Cleveland Browns claimed him off waivers in Week 7 of 2013 and moved him to strong safety. Poyer became a solid role player in Cleveland before moving to western New York and the Buffalo Bills for the 2017 season.
The former Oregon State standout became a starter in Buffalo and elevated his play on the field. He enjoyed a breakout season in 2017, finishing with 5 interceptions, 13 passes defended, and 93 tackles including 2 sacks from the safety position. Poyer played at an exceptional level in 2020 and found himself with first team All-Pro honors, and followed this up with a Pro Bowl selection in 2021.
Throughout his career, Poyer has accumulated 24 interceptions, 54 passes defended, and more than 800 combined tackles across 155 games. Despite not recording an interception since the 2022 season, Poyer received a grade of 73.0 from Pro Football Focus, showing he is still able to perform at a high level.
Poyer was a three-sport athlete in high school, playing football, baseball, and basketball. The Florida Marlins selected Poyer in the 42nd round of the 2009 MLB Draft whilst he was still a senior in high school. Poyer played both quarterback and safety on the football field and scored more than 100 touchdowns over the course of his career in Oregon.
