2024 NFL Draft: Tip Reiman Scouting Report

Tip Reiman is a rugged blocker and one of the best in this class, a prototypical possession-style tight end. Reiman is a tall player, standing at 6’4″ and weighing 273 lbs. He may seem like another offensive lineman when he’s playing in-line, but Reiman proved at the Shrine Bowl that he’s also a competent receiver. Particularly on out-breaking routes, Reiman can catch the ball well. He moves smoothly for his size and can create decent separation from defenders. He also has the size and strength to outmuscle nearby defenders for contested catches. Reiman ideally fits in as a tight end two on the depth chart but can be an instrumental part of a team’s success with his reliable hands, toughness, and blocking skills.

Strengths

  • Tip Reiman extends his body to catch passes, demonstrating good spatial awareness on money catches. He is versatile enough to line up in various formations;
  • He is adept at tracking and catching the football with his soft hands;
  • Reiman moves well, with a long, quick stride that translates his power into burst off the line. His functional playing strength is excellent;
  • Physicality translates to yards gained after the catch. Reiman’s high effort is evident in his play;
  • He’s a tight end who can make a valuable contribution to the team as a physical blocker.

Weaknesses

  • Tip Reiman lacks the explosiveness and elite athleticism required to be a significant threat after the catch or downfield. He is limited in terms of agility and speed;
  • Reiman will be utilized for his size and potential as a blocker. He won’t threaten the seam or likely even be a part-time receiver;
  • His stiff hips limit his ability to make quick turns, forcing him to stick to linear routes where he lacks the speed to capitalize consistently;
  • Reiman is a very predictable route runner and is unable to deceive anyone;
  • Vs. 2024. Draft Tight Ends: Per Team Pass Attempt: 0.48 (18th), Yards per Route Run: 0.84 (19th), Career Yards per Reception: 10.2 (19th), Yards After the Catch: 5.5 (15th).

Bottom Line on Tip Reiman

Tip Reiman has a great blocking profile, although he may not be the best blocker in his class or even close to that. However, he has the body structure and density to be successful as a blocker at the next level. Reiman possesses good functional strength and may eventually become a threat as an extension off of the line. He is a physical player who enjoys contact, and when he has the ball, he looks to grab that extra yard and punish his opponents.

Reiman has shown versatility by lining up in different positions across the formation. He is not just a blocker but also has good hands. Reiman has an impressive catch radius, which he further extends with his frame. His physicality allows him to dominate the catch point, making him an ideal target for passes thrown between the hash marks.

Tip Reiman can be a valuable asset to many teams in the league due to his versatility. At the very least, he can serve as a developmental practice squad tight end, capable of making a few catches as a team’s blocking tight end two on the depth chart.
