Can This Browns Weapon Replicate His Recent Success in the Playoffs?

The Cleveland Browns will battle the Houston Texans in the first game back for wide receiever Amari Cooper since a previous meeting with this team, where he set the franchise record for receiving yards in a game.
Wide Receiver Amari Cooper

The Cleveland Browns will visit the Houston Texans for the second time in four weeks as they clash in the AFC Wild Card round. Wide receiver Amari Cooper had his best game as a Brown, and best performance ever for a Browns wide receiver, in his last game against this very same foe.

Wide Receiver Amari Cooper Looks To Have Another Explosion vs Texans

Wide receiver Amari Cooper set a franchise record as he hauled in 265 yards receiving in the 36-22 win for the orange and brown. He caught 11 of his 15 targets, with some of the catches being amongst the best in the league this season. Additionally, Cooper finished with a 24.1 average yards per reception and added two touchdowns as well.

He has been one of the best receivers in the league with his new quarterback and is amongst the many offensive weapons for the team that has found more success in the second half of the season. A big game by Cooper will be essential if the Browns want to keep their season alive.

Amari Cooper’s Still Got It

Wide receiver Amari Cooper has been amongst the league’s best and putting together consistent play no matter the team or quarterback. He has been quarterback-proof for the Browns, putting together one of his most productive seasons with four different guys under center.

The impressive wideout played in 15 games after missing the last two due to injury and rest. He had a career-best 83.3 receiving yards per game en route to 1,250 total receiving yards on the season. Wide receiver Amari Cooper also had 72 receptions and five touchdowns, with some of his best games coming down the stretch.

In his final three games, he had a combined 22 catches, 451 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. A welcoming sign with the biggest game of the season up next. Cooper has always stepped up even since his rookie season, where he eclipsed 1,00 yards and had six touchdowns.

Consistent As Ever

He has changed teams a few times, but in his nine-year career has had seven 1,000-yard seasons. Cooper also has five or more touchdown receptions in each season. Quickly becoming a favorite for yet another new man under center, his veteran presence and skillset will be vital for the Browns to find the same success they had against this same Texans team.

Nobody will be expecting the same explosion Cooper had against this team. On one hand, it was a record-breaking performance for the franchise. On the other hand, he faced a defense that was a little depleted and allowed the Browns to sit back and throw all over the field. Cooper had catches both small and big, with a vast variety of ways he hauled in yards.

It will be critical for the Browns to establish some rhythm through the air to open up their ground game which has also dealt with injuries on the line and in the running back room. If they can find a good balance they will be just fine. If they find themselves trailing, look for Cooper to have even more responsibility, something he is just fine with.
