2023 Fantasy Football Profile: AJ Brown

Swole Batman

The Eagles have Batman-related nicknames for their core wide receiver crew bestowed on them by star defensive back Darius Slay. AJ Brown gets the Moniker swole Batman because, well look at him. Not only is AJ a winner in the body looks department, but he’s also a winner for your fantasy football team at wide receiver. The 6’ 1” 226-pounder set career highs in 2022 for basically everything including, targets (145), receptions (88), and yards (1,496), and tied his career-best with 11 touchdown receptions.

Brown and quarterback Jalen Hurts wasted no time getting to know each other. In their first regular season game as teammates Hurts targeted Brown 13 times resulting in ten catches for 155 yards including an amazing 54-yard grab in a week one win against the Detroit Lions. Brown would go on to have eight games with 95 or more receiving yards in 2022.

Fantasy Stud

Brown would produce for fantasy in 2022 ending the season as the sixth-ranked wide receiver in PPR leagues and fourth overall in standard-scoring leagues. Brown played at least 74% of the team’s snaps in each game last year. Brown was a top 15 wide receiver (PPR) eight times, with only four weeks outside of the top 23 making him a wide receiver two or better in 13 of his 17 games for the 2022 NFL season.

The Eagles made it to the Super Bowl last year and come back in 2023 fully reloaded and ready to get back to the big game. Jason Kelce returns to anchor a solid offensive line. Their running game was a top-five running attack last year and although Miles Sanders left for Carolina, D’Andre Swift and Rashaad Penny come in to carry that load along with quarterback Jalen Hurts. A solid running game always allows the passing game to open up and with “Skinny Batman” Aka DeVonta Smith as a star opposite him, Brown will continue to produce and perform.

With an average draft position of 12.4 (PPR) on Sleeper, going as the seventh wide receiver off the board, Brown offers stability and upside in the prime of his career and could easily challenge to be a top-five fantasy performer in 2023.
