Charlie Kolar 2022 NFL Draft Profile
Kolar was a very high recruit coming out of high school in Norman, Oklahoma. Comes from a very athletic family and his brother John, was a quarterback at Oklahoma State for four years before transferring as a graduate student to Iowa State. Charlie followed after his brother in Ames, Iowa, and had a stellar career for the Cyclones where he played for four years. In Kolar’s final season, he won the William V. Campbell award for being the best player on the field, in the classroom, and in providing community service.
In the upcoming 2022 draft, Kolar may be the most underrated tight end in this class. He has a unique combination of size and speed that should make him a very attractive player for the majority of NFL teams. Kolar does his most damage on the field on quick crossing routes and throws down the seam where he often runs away from defenders. Has tremendous hands and the uncanny ability to get open in the red zone.

Bottom Line on Charlie Kolar
Kolar might be a polarizing player for some teams that need a tight end but still seem wary of his lack of physicality given his premium size. Coupled with this, is Kolar’s lack of big-play ability which is crucial in today’s NFL, especially for offensive pass-catchers. Even though Kolar has some enticing traits that will make him a very valuable TE2 to begin his NFL career, too many potential negatives might be seen by professional evaluators. We currently have him projected as a 5th-round tight end come draft day and hope he ends up proving us wrong.
