Tre Ford 2022 NFL Draft Profile
Players that can warrant draft consideration in the NFL, after a college career in Canada are typically few and far between. With that being said Tre Ford can make a lot of claims that most other players cannot. Tre and his twin brother Tyrell grew up in a coach’s household. With their father and older brothers leading the way to the game they are looking to turn into a profession in 2022.
When Tre Ford entered college as a freshman he was used primarily as the backup. Part of the reasoning was his need to get into the weight room and bulk up to play college football. He is a very rare athlete that attended college to run track and play quarterback for the Waterloo Warriors. However, he knows that his track career needs to be set aside to focus on football.
In this interview (link is at the bottom of this article), Ford mentions having been able to rank in the top 10 in the nation in track despite weighing in at almost 200 pounds. Heading into the 2022 CFL draft he also found himself ranked as the sixth-best prospect and top quarterback. However, after his pro-day workout speculation began that he would never play in the CFL, with NFL interest rising.

Bottom Line on Tre Ford
Tre Ford demonstrates the unteachable intangibles that every coach wants in their quarterback. Leadership, accountability, confidence. Ford may come off as a humble guy, but do not mistake him for a person who isn’t confident in his abilities. He has stated his desire to continue to develop as a quarterback no matter where he lands. However, he understands his athleticism will prompt more creative coaching staffs to find a way to get him on the field early in his career.
Covid 19 forced the hands of football leagues in Canada. This resulted in the cancelation of the season. Highlighting his leadership, Ford took it into his own hands to keep his pass-catchers fresh. He arranged sessions in which he would meet up with teammates, and either throw passes or study film. Ford’s NFL comparison to Wilson is apt, for many reasons, including the fact that he has attempted to emulate Wilson’s game.
If Tre Ford had attended university in the United States, he would likely be being discussed as a potential first-round pick in the NFL draft. With a career completion rate of over 70% on his career, for over 6,900 yards passing, 64 touchdowns to 22 interceptions, as well as nearly 3,000 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns, Ford deserves consideration in the NFL. And the Seahawks do have a current opening for a starting quarterback.
