The New Orleans Saints and offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk have agreed to a five-year, $96 million extension, per reports from ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. Ryan Ramczyk’s contract extension, which includes $60 million in guaranteed money, makes him the highest-paid right tackle in the NFL.

The Saints drafted Ramczyk, now 27 years old, with the number 32 overall pick in 2017. He was entering the final year of his rookie contract after the Saints decided to exercise his fifth-year option, but this extension will keep the former Wisconsin Badger in New Orleans through the 2026 season.
History
In his first four seasons in the league, Ramczyk has missed only one game and he has started all 63 games in which he has played. The only regular-season game he missed was the 2018 regular-season finale when the Saints had already secured the number one overall seed in the NFC and they decided to pull their starters. Ramczyk was a first-team All-Pro selection in 2019 and received second-team All-Pro honors in 2018 and 2020.
Contract
Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson was previously the highest-paid right tackle in the NFL, averaging $18 million per year on a $72 million deal. But with this new extension, Ramczyk is now the highest-paid offensive tackle in the league as his deal averages $19.2 million per season. Based on average per year salary, Ryan Ramczyk’s contract extension ranks him fifth among all offensive tackles in the league.
Production
Ramczyk has been one of the best and most consistent offensive tackles since he entered the NFL. While many tackles excel at either pass or run blocking, Ramczyk is tremendous at both. Per Pro Football Focus, in his first four seasons in the league, Ramczyk has allowed only 10 total sacks and 10 quarterback hits.

Not only does this deal obviously benefit Ramczyk because of the security, but it will also help the Saints better manage their salary cap issues this off-season. It also could allow New Orleans to move Ramczyk to left tackle if they are unable to re-sign Terron Armstead, who is entering the final year of his current deal. Having Ramczyk signed to this extension will provide some consistency along the offensive line, which will be extremely beneficial as the Saints move forward without Drew Brees.
