Trevon Grimes 2021 NFL Draft Profile
Overview
Florida had stars like tight end Kyle Pitts and wide receiver Kadarius Toney to lean on last year but Trevon Grimes is a receiver that thrived as that third option on the team. He did not see the field that much as a freshman, as he only caught three passes for 2o yards while he was at Ohio State. He transferred to the University of Florida after his freshman season and played his remaining three seasons with the Gators. Grimes’ production picked up during his first season at Florida. He had 26 receptions for 364 yards and two touchdowns.
His production would continue to increase each year after that. As a junior, he caught 33 passes for 491 yards and three touchdowns. He started to get a little bit of chemistry with quarterback Kyle Trask just this last season. Grimes had his best season of his career as he caught 38 passes for 598 yards and nine touchdowns.
The numbers might not stick out as being elite numbers but he produced exceptionally well as their number three target on the team behind Pitts and Toney. He averaged an exceptional 15.5 yards per reception on just 38 catches during his senior season. With his 6’4 220 pound frame, Grimes creates matchup nightmares for opposing corners, and he is also able run by some corners with his 4.49 speed, but it’s not a strength of his . One of his more notable games last season was against Arkansas when he had six catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns. That was his lone 100-yard receiving game of the season but he had at least one touchdown grab in seven games. A weakness of Grimes would be that he is not the most athletic wide receiver so he has to rely more on his physical nature.

Bottom Line on Trevon Grimes
Grimes has good size and route running and can block very well for a wide receiver. At the NFL level, he looks like he could be a solid number three option for a team but he could be develop into a number two option if he is able to hit his ceiling. He’s not the fastest wide receiver but he makes up for it with great footwork and physicality. His numbers do not tell the whole story on how good Grimes is. He has a lot of potential to be a good NFL wideout. Grimes was sharing touches with two guys that will most likely be drafted in the first round in Pitts and Toney. He should be a late day two pick or an early day three pick.
