Rondale Moore 2021 NFL Draft Profile

Rondale Moore is a junior out of Purdue. Moore began his collegiate career as a true freshman, starting in all 13 games of the 2018 season. During his first and only full season of college, he recorded 114 receptions for 1258 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also had 21 rushing attempts for 213 yards and two touchdowns. That adds up to almost 155 yards from scrimmage and 14 total touchdowns. It did not take long for opposing teams to realize Moore was dangerous no matter where he played on the field.

Moore’s biggest hinderance has been his ability to stay healthy. It is a common issue among most of these smaller, speed-type wide receivers. They are often just too small and easily nicked up to make a lasting impact in the NFL. If history tells us anything it is that Moore has a good chance of ending up the same way. If you have injury problems in college, then that trait typically translates to the NFL. Smaller wider receivers do not have to be Tyreek Hill to be successful. There are other ways they can make an impact. If Moore does not stay healthy and develop his route running, then he may be delegated to being a career-long special teams returner.

Bottom Line on Rondale Moore

If your team is looking for a Tyreek Hill/ Henry Ruggs-type of player, then look no further. Any team that drafts Rondale Moore will be getting a player that will force teams to spy him with a deep safety when lined up on the outside. He is also diverse enough to check-in as the running back on passing downs and cause damage from the backfield. He can accelerate to his top speed ridiculously fast, and also adds value as a special teams returner.

Rondale Moore’s potential and diverseness will likely be enough for teams to overlook his injury history. When healthy, Moore has shown he is a force to be reckoned with. There is likely no one in the NFL that can pull a “DK Metcalf” and chase him down from behind. If you allow Moore to get past you, then that is likely the last time you will see him that play. “When healthy” is the key phrase here though. Outside of his first season in college, he has not shown the ability to stay healthy. Guys that are injury-prone in college typically do not become less injury-prone when they enter the league. Because of his injury history and size, it would not be shocking to hear that teams have taken him off their board altogether.
