Following the latest blockbuster extension of Miami Dolphins Center Aaron Brewer, LB Jordyn Brooks trade rumors could pick up right before the 2026 season begins. Brooks, a former first-round pick, is coming off his best season in his career, hauling in a league-leading 183 tackles (99 solo). He also became the fifth player since 2000 to reach 800 tackles in his first six NFL seasons. Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report believes Brooks could land in Dallas as their latest All-Pro starter, which makes sense considering they could use all of the edge rush help they can get.
Despite coming close to acquiring Maxx Crosby this offseason, the team decided to trade for Rashan Gary to address the linebacker issue. The Cowboys went on to acquire Dee Winters from the San Francisco 49ers and drafted two promising LB’s in Jaishawn Barham and Malachi Lawrence. However, apparently, there’s still a need for an LB since Gary is more of Dallas rolling the dice on the player, while Winters was acquired to fill in depth.
With Brooks joining this group, it could complete the massive overhaul the Cowboys have been putting together. Dallas is unlikely to add another LB, but when it comes to Jerry Jones, nobody should put it past him if he does, since they were eyeing Patrick Queen this offseason, too.

Jordyn Brooks Trade Rumors: $8M Target Linked to Cowboys
Meanwhile, the Dolphins’ LB is entering the final year of his contract and is set to make over $8 million. After trading Jaylen Waddle, releasing Tyreek Hill and almost close to dealing De’Von Achane, the team hasn’t been afraid of dealing the majority of their top superstars. With a new head coach in Jeff Hafley, he could be eyeing a move on from Brooks. The Dolphins extended Brewer before the LB despite his career year, and it’s very telling what might happen in the next few weeks.
Many should assume that the All-Pro is now on the trade block. They’d probably won’t extend the linebacker, and these other three teams could pursue him, too.
Other Potential Fits
Baltimore Ravens
After letting veteran Kyle Van Noy and losing Dre’mont Jones to New England, the Ravens haven’t stopped making massive upgrades to their defensive pass-rush. The team came close to pairing Crosby with Trey Hendrickson, and with that, the Ravens could look for one more superstar to pair with Hendrickson. Why not have Brooks join Baltimore?
New Ravens head coach Jesse Minter is still the same defensive mindset wizard he was with the Chargers, and this would polish the entire LB unit in Baltimore. The team also drafted Zion Young to develop as a capable starter, but Tavius Robinson and Teddye Buchanan are slated to be the starters come Week 1.
Los Angeles Chargers
Other than bringing back veteran Khalil Mack, this offseason has been a major disappointment for the Chargers when looking for defensive upgrades. Kyle Kennard is fighting for a roster spot despite being a backup, and Bud Dupree is predicted to be a cut candidate. While the future is bright for Tuli Tuipulotu, he has a lot of growing to do in this unit. Between Daiyan Henley and Denzel Perryman, the Chargers wouldn’t hurt their defense by adding an All-Pro and pairing with Mack to give this defense a legitimate chance to have a powerful edge unit.
Minnesota Vikings
After trading Jonathan Greenard, the Minnesota Vikings are putting all responsibility on Andrew Van Ginkel, who’s arguably their best LB. Blake Cashman and Eric Wilson have the opportunity to step up in this defense, but they need someone to make noise. If the Vikings want to re-enhance their pass-rush, they should acquire Brooks.
