Caleb Williams

Caleb Williams Appears to Be in the NFL’s Top 100 Players

If you show the glimmer of a high ceiling as a QB. If your team is coming off an 11-6 season in the division. If you won a playoff game and led countless comebacks, you can bet you will get recognition. Sure enough, it appears that Caleb Williams is getting that and more. Already coming off of becoming the next Madden Cover star, he appears to have landed in the NFL’s Top 100 players list.

Caleb Williams Appears to Be in the NFL’s Top 100 Players

In a teaser of the list, the NFL social media account released various clips of players being interviewed on it. In it was Green Bay Packers rival star Micah Parsons, referring to Williams’ nickname “Iceman.”While Bears fans were delighted by it, some even thought it was Parsons praising Williams. However, the NFL just took a clip from him and cut it off. Eventually, they did release the entire clip of Parsons’ full quote.

As I mentioned in the very beginning, the quarterback position tends to give you a boost if you have a sliver of success. Sure, you still have to put up numbers and actually play well, but Williams is a classic example of an eye test. Everything surrounding his play isn’t gonna be perfect, given the style of his play at times. His completion rate wasn’t pretty and is something the Bears are challenging him on.
However, Johnson has all the confidence in the world in him. Constantly striving and pushing for more from him is what drives their relationship. It doesn’t matter to them what the outsiders are saying. It is all about the work you’re putting in to continuously grow in the position. You could argue that, despite the success, Williams has become a bit underrated

Year 2 in Ben Johnson’s Offense

Most quarterbacks, if they’re gonna become anything of a success, it’s gonna start in year 3. This is year 3 for Williams, but most importantly, it is his 2nd year under Johnson. That means that the small stuff should be ironed out earlier. The Bears’ offense can start faster. His play should become even more consistent. Meaning that his spot in the Top 100 will be secured even more and potentially climb even higher.
The Bears have spent a lot of resources on the offensive side. We have already seen what having a young, ascending tight end can do in Colston Loveland. Rome Odunze is surely motivated to bounce back from what turned out to be a disappointing, injury-plagued season. A capable 2-man show at running back in D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai. Luther Burden should have been involved earlier than last season, and Ben Johnson couldn’t hide his excitement for him.

Bears History for Top 100

Bears are no strangers to being on lists, but it has been slim pickings for the team recently, with all the losing seasons that have happened. Guys like Brian Urlacher, Devin Hester, and Khalil Mack had their shining moments, but it was never dominated by offense when it came to recognition. The last quarterback to make the list for the Bears was Justin Fields in 2023. Caleb Williams has a chance to put a stamp on it with another stellar season.
His coach has his back, but it is on Williams to execute. These lists are not the end-all, be-all, but what they do show is who the top players are at their respective positions. Guys like Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Patrick Mahomes have no worry about missing out because they have done it for multiple years consecutively. Now, can Caleb Williams do the same and bring more glory to the Windy City?
