Campbell, entering the final year of his rookie deal (without the option), now has the financial security every NFL player craves. Campbell’s extension is for four years and $81 million, with $51.5 million guaranteed.
That average annual value of $20.25 million places Campbell second in the league amongst off-the-ball LBs, trailing only Fred Warner. Warner signed a three-year, $63 million extension with the San Francisco 49ers, averaging $21 million per year. Not having to make him the highest-paid LB in the NFL is a big reason why Campbell’s contract details are a huge win for the Detroit Lions.
In terms of total money, Campbell’s $81 million is also the second highest for LBs. Only Baltimore’s Roquan Smith’s five-year, $100 million contract is larger. The $51.5 million guaranteed places third in the NFL, trailing only Smith and Warner.

What’s Next For The Lions?
With Campbell now in Detroit for another four years, the Lions can turn their attention to the other stars from their outstanding 2023 draft. Gibbs, whose fifth-year option has him signed through 2027, will surely be kept by the Lions on a mega-deal. Both second-round picks Sam LaPorta and Brian Branch have also become pillars of the team and are entering the final year of their deals. Holmes may have his work cut out for him if he wants to resign all four, with Branch’s Achilles tear potentially complicating a new contract.
