Weaknesses
- He is a raw pass rusher, having collected just two sacks as a starter for the Aggies;
- His run grade is much higher than in the pass, a big reason he is projected to be selected by many in rounds 5 or 6;
- Some scouts observe his hand placement is sketchy, almost like he just randomly moves without understanding the game of leverage;
- Average selection mock drafts points to Regis coming off the board around pick 196;
- Shorter arms than talent evaluators would like, 31 5/8 inches;
- Played at 315 pounds during the season but was down to 295 pounds for the combine. Some teams are worried he will be considerably slower when he bulks back up;
- He tends to play higher as the game moves on, eliminating any advantage he has due to his shorter frame;
- Lacks an assortment of pass rush moves, relying on pure bull rushes in college. NFL coaching will have its work cut out to develop a variety of pass rush moves;
- Despite his first quick step, Regis slows down considerably from there. It is like he loses steam and either isn’t how to maintain acceleration or loses focus;
- At just 6’1 and 315 pounds, Regis is undersized and at a disadvantage against taller guards and centers. He will need to increase his mass and help lower his center of gravity to succeed against top offensive linemen;
- Regis left the Aggies’ contest with Miami in the College Football Playoffs early, taken out due to an undisclosed injury. Some scouts wonder about his durability.
