Two-Time NFL Pro Bowler Teases Blockbuster Trade Via Social Media

After having a remarkable 2025 campaign, it’s not stopping Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton from teasing a possible trade this upcoming offseason. Despite Sutton signing a four-year extension last year, the receiver teased on Instagram with a caption, “chapter closed.” It had Broncos fans panicking, and the roof of the NFL almost came off after Sutton posted, suggesting a trade could come soon, but that isn’t the case. Sutton quickly cleared up what he meant and posted on his Instagram story, “I was obviously talking about Chapter 8.”

While the Broncos can breathe now, it’s still interesting that Sutton would post that. Denver still experienced a change in their wide receiver room, firing assistant coach Keary Colbert. Even though the Broncos traded DeVaughn Vele during the 2025 regular season, the team is prepared to add a superstar receiver to its roster this offseason. Denver doesn’t have a ton of stardom in the aerial attack other than Sutton, who was in several trade rumors previously before 2025.

Either way, Sutton is performing at a high-level with the Broncos and has a great bond with quarterback Bo Nix. These are two key reasons why the team isn’t going to let their top receiver go. It doesn’t mean the Broncos aren’t going to add another capable weapon once Nix returns, recovering from the season-ending injury he suffered during the AFC Divisional Matchup. If the Broncos want to entertain a trade at some point, here are some possible fits if they’re experiencing a down season in 2026.

Possible Dream Teams

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles are likely to move on without AJ Brown. This means a massive trade could be in the works, and there is no way the team could repair the relationship with their receiver. Philadelphia only has Devonta Smith as the lone star-studded weapon, but they’re going to need to fill the void if they move on from Brown. While they could entertain a trade here, the Eagles might have to ask a certain team to exchange for one of the team’s receivers.

Brown is on the older side, but the Broncos are in “win now” mode and could be open to bringing in Brown in exchange for Sutton. It might be difficult when it comes to their contract, but it’s something both sides can negotiate.

New Orleans Saints

Meanwhile, it wasn’t the first time the Broncos and the Saints agreed on a trade. After the Broncos shipped Vele to join the rebuilding Saints, Sutton could follow him in his footsteps. Tyler Shough is becoming established in this offense, and adding a ferocious weapon like Sutton would make his life easier. After Kellen Moore led the Eagles to a Super Bowl win as the offensive coordinator, he could push for Sutton as their No. 1 receiver while shipping Chris Olave in return.

Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins are also in a rebuild era. After hiring head coach Jeff Hafley, the team finally has a promising future if they make the right move on offense. With the expectation of Malik Willis joining the Dolphins, he’s going to need some receivers. Tyreek Hill is already a cut or trade candidate, and they might even entertain shipping Jaylen Waddle now that Mike McDaniel is gone.

It’s easier to move on from Hill, but they should find a way to get Sutton if the Broncos want to entertain and get Hill to compete with an AFC contender.
