Romello Height has been a top contributor for one of the best defenses in all of college football this season, and his scouting report evaluates how well his skill set might translate to the NFL.

Romello Height Scouting Report

Measurables:

Height- 6’3″

Weight- 240 lbs

Background:

Romello Height attended Dublin High School in Dublin, Ga., where he was a four-star recruit. Height committed to Auburn, where he played in one game during his first season of college football in 2020. After two seasons with the Tigers, Height transferred to USC in 2022, where he made his first career start. His 2022 season was cut short due to injury. However, he returned in 2023 and played in 12 games, recording four sacks and six tackles for loss for the Trojans. He transferred to Georgia Tech for his junior season in 2024, where he started all 12 regular-season games for the Yellow Jackets.

He transferred to Texas Tech in 2025 and had the best season of his career with a career-high nine sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss. Height has helped Texas Tech win its first Big 12 Championship and reach the College Football Playoff with a 12-1 record and the third-ranked scoring defense in the country.

Strengths:

Height is a great athlete with tremendous speed as a pass rusher, and he quickly accelerates off the line of scrimmage with an explosive first step. He also has incredible bend around the edge. Height pairs his great athletic traits with a fairly deep repertoire of pass rush moves to get to the quarterback, including one of the best spin moves in the 2026 draft class. He plays the game with a high motor as well, giving great effort on every snap throughout the entire game. With his great athleticism, solid pass rush technique, and high motor, Height is one of the most productive pass rushers in college football. He currently has the third-best overall PFF defense grade of any edge rusher in the country with an elite 92.6 grade. Height also ranks in the top 20 for total sacks with nine.

Weaknesses:

Height is an undersized pass rusher at 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds. He is a decent run defender, but it is not a big strength of his game, and he might need to improve his play strength to be consistently impactful against the run at the next level. He needs to improve his consistency as a tackler as well, as he tends to miss a high number of tackles in space. Height is also an older draft prospect who will be a 25-year-old rookie in the NFL.

NFL Projection:

Height is one of the best pass rushers in the 2026 draft class. He has the athletic ability and skill set to be a very productive pass rusher in the NFL, and the potential to develop into a high-level starter at the next level. However, he may need to improve his play strength to become a consistently impactful run defender in the NFL. Height is currently projected to be a second-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and he has a chance to possibly end up going late in the first round of the draft.
