After trading Alohi Gilman to the Ravens this year, the Chargers are expected to find a viable replacement alongside Derwin James. While Jim Harbaugh wants to foster a trenches-first unit in this defense, he can’t afford to lose depth in the secondary. Washington doesn’t need to immediately start, but his presence could be resourceful for Elijah Molden and James in situational moments.
