Vic Fangio Offers Insight for Two Philadelphia Eagles Defenders

With training camp officially underway, Philadelphia Eagles Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio had the opportunity to speak with the media on Tuesday. He had some fascinating things to say about a few defenders, specifically third-year defensive tackle Moro Ojomo.

“I think he will hold up well. He did last year when he played. He’s a year older. He’s getting reps in training camp, I think he will do good.”

Those are very encouraging words from Fangio. The Eagles will be relying heavily on Ojomo to fill the void left by Milton Williams when he signed with the Patriots. Ojomo started to play some of his best football down the stretch last season. He recorded his first career sack in the divisional round of the playoffs against the Los Angeles Rams. A breakout season from Ojomo could go a long way to helping the Eagles’ defense pick up where they left off last season.

On the other hand, Fangio had some not very encouraging things to say about cornerback Adoree Jackson.

When asked about Jackson and his fit with the Eagles, Fangio stated, “I don’t know if I think it’s the place. I think it’s time for him to show that. In Tennessee, when it came time to re-sign him after his contract was up, they didn’t. The Giants, his contract was up, they didn’t. It’s time to show who he is or who he isn’t.”

Yikes. Not very reassuring words from Fangio about his new cornerback. Jackson is currently in a battle with Kelee Ringo for the starting cornerback position. Fangio’s comments don’t offer much support of Jackson, indicating that Ringo has been the more impressive of the two so far. There is a lot of time left in training camp for Jackson to win Fangio back, but it doesn’t seem like he has had the best start.
