Cam Ward Pro Day

Top QB Prospect Likely Seals Fate With Pro Day Performance

Miami held its Pro Day on Monday afternoon amidst a throng of front office executives and coaches from all over the league. The presumptive first overall selection, Cam Ward, also participated in the festivities. Tennessee sent its entire cadre of office staff and coaches to witness the ascension of Mr. Cam Ward on his Pro Day. How did he show off in front of his prospective employers?

Cam Ward Likely Seals Fate With Pro Day Performance

The Titans began their courting and evaluation process by taking the potential first selection to dinner before the event.

Not only did Tennessee send its top decision-makers, but it also sent its in-house media crew to the party. Could this be another sign that the team is taking Ward? Teams usually do this when sending a heavy presence, so it could be inferred that they’re giving away nothing of consequence. They also had representatives at Tulane and North Carolina on the same day.

Tennessee’s top two decision makers led the way for their contingent of dignitaries. They were seen speaking with head coach Mario Cristobal, presumably over his late-game management failures and Cuban coffee spots. Cristobal briefly spoke about Ward and his leadership on the NFL Network and why he should be a Titan.

Pro Day Fireworks

By all accounts, Ward had a very successful Pro Day throwing session, rarely missing on his passes. He showed off his trademark lightning-quick release and accuracy. According to Ward, he didn’t throw at the Combine to shine the spotlight on his lesser-known teammates. This is another example of his charisma and leadership skills that quickly won over his Hurricanes colleagues over the past two seasons.

Of course, every aspiring NFL quarterback has to do the patented “Zach Wilson Pro Day Throw”. Ward made the pass with his twist and flair on his attempt. The Miami signal caller has underrated arm strength to make all the necessary throws at the next level.

After that Dirk Nowitzki fadeaway throw, he had some words to say to the Titans brass in attendance about their potential selection.

The famed prospect from Coral Gables met with some of the Tennessee executives following the successful Pro Day throwing session, perhaps setting up a possible reunion in late April.

What’s Next For The Franchise And Prospect?

In a hilarious twist of fate only the NFL scriptwriters can invent, former Titans general manager Ran Carthon was in town, working for CBS Sports media. Did the current Titans’ executives and Carthon cross paths while in South Beach? If so, what was the interaction like? Carthon looks more visibly relaxed working in the media instead of hunkering down this time of year in his former role.

Ward received praise for his Pro Day performance, including praise from former NFL quarterbacks Chase Daniel and Kurt Benkert, who are social media savants in their new lives. Benkert, the former Packers legend, compared Ward’s arm talent to that of a future Hall of Famer, Aaron Rodgers. Cleveland scheduled a workout with the Miami passer as well.

Ian Rapaport of the NFL Network reported that the Titans held a private workout with Mr. Ward days after Miami’s Pro Day. He also mentioned that Tennessee will be at Colorado’s Pro Day and plans to have a private workout with Shedeur Sanders. After they do their due diligence on this quarterback class, it will be interesting to see what the Titans will do for the quarterback position. Will they stick and pick Ward or shock the world and take Sanders after a minor trade down?
