2025 NFL Draft: Shamar Turner Scouting Report
A former in-state four-star recruit in the 2021 recruiting class, Shemar Turner of Texas A&M is looked at as a tweeter prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. He doesn’t have the prototypical length for the position, but he makes up for that with relentless aggression and an unlimited motor. Turner has an excellent first step and a heavy punch as he holds his own at the point of attack and comes at blockers with violence. His athleticism and closing ability allow him to be in the pile frequently at or near the line of scrimmage.
After being brought along slowly in his first two years in College Station, Turner had his breakout season in 2023, when he was named Second-team All-Southeastern Conference, when he recorded 33 tackles, six sacks, two forced fumbles, and two blocked kicks. Turner followed up by recording 33 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup in 2024.
Turner is No. 64 in NFL.com Lead Draft Analyst Eric Edholm’s Top 100 prospect rankings for the 2025 NFL Draft Class.

Bottom Line on Shemar Turner
Shamar Turner is a player who has a lot of potential in the 2025 NFL Draft, but he needs to develop the scheme that fits best for his skill set. My educated guess is a team that deploys a hybrid 3-4/4-3 scheme. He can profile best as a 3-4 defensive end or a three-technique defensive tackle that can cause havoc on the defensive front. He would be best served as a rotational player early in his career until he gets his feet under him, or a team can find a role that best fits his skill set on the defensive line. In conclusion, Turner may be reined in a little by the aggression, but that can be harnessed, and it can turn him into a very productive starter for an NFL team sooner rather than later.
