Former Memphis DL Cam Jackson has been an impact player against the run in his two years with Florida. Here is a 2025 NFL Draft Early Scouting Report and film analysis on him.
Overview, Film Analysis, and Early 2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report of Florida DL Cam Jackson
Measurables:
- 6’6”
- 342 lbs
Player Background:
Cam Jackson began his collegiate career with the Memphis Tigers as a part of the 2020 recruiting class. The Haynesville HS product was rated as a three-star prospect and a Top-40 defensive lineman in the country. Despite making just one tackle in nine games during his freshman season, he blocked a kick against UCF, which won the game for Memphis. He developed into a rotational piece in 2021, playing in all 12 games and making 9 tackles, 2.5 tackles-for-loss, and 1.5 sacks.
He started every game in 2022 and was a key piece on the Tigers’ DL. Jackson racked up 41 tackles, 2.5 TFLs, a PBU, and a sack. After the season, he entered the transfer portal and ended up with the Florida Gators. He proved to be a valuable addition almost immediately, serving as a run-stopper with limited stats but a sizable impact. He found himself on the stat sheet much more in 2024, playing 12 games and recording 37 total, 4.5 TFL, two sacks, and two PBUs.
Accolades:
- Third Team All-AAC (2022)
- SEC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week (2023)
Strengths/Pros:
Jackson has both the size and versatility to be an effective space-taker against the run. He’s a smart player who knows where to position himself mid-play and does a good job of holding his ground. His frame allows him to block up running lanes and naturally force plays to be bounced outside. He can line up at multiple different spots along the line and be an impact player when facing the ground game.
He locks out his arms well to generate solid drive when his pass rushers collapse the pocket and force the quarterback into more pressure. Jackson’s lateral movement does flash promise at times, as he is able to anchor with one arm and rotate onto ball carriers. He shows good effort getting off the line to close out runs in traffic.
Weaknesses/Cons:
The athleticism factor is an issue, both within functional strength and conditioning. He doesn’t have the stamina to be a three-down lineman and will get stuffed at the line too often. Jackson simply isn’t going to be an effective pass rusher because of a lack of moves and speed. This limits his NFL ceiling pretty heavily and won’t have many teams taking him highly.
Jackson drifts out of his hips too often, not utilizing his size to stay low and drive through OL. His get-off is slower out of any stance and doesn’t have the explosiveness to win at the line often. He has issues against double teams and tends to get trapped and driven off his spot. He needs to refine his abilities to be a brick wall at the line and fully sell out to stop runs up the middle against bigger OL.
Potential Team Fits:
NFL Projection:
There’s always a spot for a run-stopping defensive lineman on NFL defenses and that’s where Jackson can pave a path for himself. He’s more of a developmental prospect at the moment and will need to add strength and finesse to be a legitimate option. He has the physical foundation and knowledge of the game to expedite his path to extended playing time, but he likely won’t ever be a full-time player.
