The Baltimore Ravens produced a much-needed bounce-back win in Week 9. In the performance, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson set the NFL record for the most games with a perfect passer rating (4) in NFL history. The Ravens took on the Denver Broncos and beat them in dominating fashion. After a disappointing loss to the Cleveland Browns in Week 8, the Ravens needed a big win to turn the tide. Most notably, Baltimore’s defense showed they can be as impactful as the offense when needed. The defense consistently pressured the quarterback, producing four sacks and one interception. The Ravens were able to hold the Broncos to 10 points, which is impressive due to Denver being a team that can put points on the board. In Week 7 and Week 8 combined, the Broncos scored 61 points but lost steam as they ran into a buzzsaw in Baltimore.
The dynamic duo of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry once again proved unstoppable as Henry posted his fifth 100-yard rushing game of the season. Henry also made history in the Ravens’ record books by hitting the 1,000-yard mark in only his ninth game of the season. Henry is the Ravens’ first running back to rush for 1,000 yards since Mark Ingram did it in 2019. Ingram finished that season with 1,018 yards, a mark Henry will surely obliterate.
Lamar Jackson Sets NFL’s Perfect Passer Rating Record
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson put on another amazing showing in Week 9. This time, his performance was record-setting. Jackson is the first player in NFL history to post four games with a perfect passer rating (on 15 or more attempts). Jackson completed 16 of 19 passes for 280 yards, three touchdowns, and zero turnovers, which ended with a perfect passer rating of 158.3. Jackson’s previous perfect passer ratings were in Week 1 of the 2019 season against the Miami Dolphins, Week 10 of the 2019 season against the Cincinnati Bengals, and Week 17 of the 2023 season against the Dolphins.
This record puts Jackson in good company, as he’s on a list with Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, and Kurt Warner as the only players with multiple 158.3 passer ratings. Jackson has improved heavily as a passer and doesn’t rely on his legs nearly as much. Although Jackson is still a threat to run at any time, opposing defenses must stay honest in coverage since Jackson has shown an ability to make them pay with his arm.
Jackson’s Dominance Continues
Lamar Jackson showed just how dominant he can be with his arm in Week 9, as he barely scrambled. Jackson only rushed three times for four yards and still managed to put up 41 points. Completing 84% of his passes and adding three touchdowns to his total, giving him 20 on the season, he looked like a prototypical pocket passer. Jackson surveyed the field and went through his progressions until finding an open receiver.
Two of Jackson’s touchdowns were caught by standout wide receiver Zay Flowers. Flowers had five receptions for 127 yards, including a highlight 53-yard scamper to the endzone. Jackson was able to spread the ball around, having six different receivers with at least 20+ yards. Jackson has been playing at an MVP level and appears to be the frontrunner for the award. If Jackson wins NFL MVP this season, it’ll be his second consecutive award and his third in totality.
