The Ravens, Chiefs are likely suitors for 20-sack trade candidate, Azeez Ojulari before this year’s trade deadline. Bleacher Report has Ojulari at the top of the trade board with no surprise since the Giants will become sellers. New York is unlikely to be in the postseason this year so they might as well start building some draft capital to prepare for 2205 and provide some support for quarterback Daniel Jones. Darius Slayton isn’t the only hottest trade candidate on the Giants but they could sell Ojulari if a team reaches out to them with a decent offer.
However, the team plans to set a high price on both veterans to no surprise after their performance against Pittsburgh. Ojulari posted eight sacks in his rookie year but has been less productive in the past two seasons. The 24-year-old is picking up the slack and was a solid pressure defensive gadget despite their crumbling loss, leading them now to 2-6. With Kayvon Thibodeaux coming back and having Brian Burns, the Giants probably can’t afford someone like Ojulari anymore who would be nothing more but a rotational pass-rusher in New York.
He might be better off playing for a contender with the production he’s showing off. Ojulari is in the last year of his rookie deal so any team that needs an edge boost could welcome him. He doesn’t need to sign an extension when he’s traded but teams like the Ravens and Chiefs should probably take a gamble on a Azeez Ojulari trade.
Ravens, Chiefs Are Likely Suitors for Azeez Ojulari in Trade
Helping Lamar Jackson
The Ravens are creating what could be a super team after trading for Diontae Johnson. The team is coming off an upset loss against the Browns so it’s no surprise anymore why they brought in Johnson to help Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor. Bateman dropped a critical pass this past Sunday so the Ravens were eager to add some passing attack to help Lamar Jackson. The two-time NFL MVP is battling an injury so the team might have to depend on throwing quick darts while winning in the trenches on defense.
However, Baltimore didn’t make a replacement after losing Patrick Queen and Jadeveon Clowney. They’ve been relying on David Ojabo and Odafe Oweh to rotate the opposite end of Roquan Smith. This defense is still one of the best in the league but it’s been average so far after allowing more points on the board than anticipated. Ojulari is no Ray Lewis but they could bring him in as a significant upgrade while he has momentum.
Three-Peat Incoming?
Kansas City is still monitoring the trade market despite trading for linebacker Josh Uche and wideout DeAndre Hopkins. The 7-0 record doesn’t mean anything since the team has been close to losing nearly most of their matchups this season. However, the defense has been holding down the fort, they might benefit from bringing in one more pass rusher to become an unstoppable force in the postseason. Bringing in someone like Ojulari could give star defensive tackle Chris Jones the balance he’s looking for.
Nick Bolton, Drue Tranquill and Leo Chenal are still learning so putting them on the reserve while starting Ojulari and Uche could create a superstar defense. Ojulari may not have the experience but he could get after the quarterback when it counts. The Chiefs fixed both their offense and defense it might be time for the team to consider building a powerhouse to give Patrick Mahomes more time on the field. This will only happen if they build a defense to play lights out to allow those extra three-and-outs.
