The Tennesee Titans still have wide receiver Treylon Burks on their roster, but a trade becomes more and more likely with every crushing loss. A first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Tennessee selected Burks to effectively replace superstar wide receiver A.J. Brown as the top option in the passing attack. While he had some flashes as a rookie, injuries ultimately limited him to just 11 games, 33 receptions, 444 yards, and one touchdown. Following a disappointing sophomore season, Burks fell down the depth chart and earned no favors with new head coach Brian Callahan.
Through four games, Burks has recorded three receptions for 24 yards as the Titans sit near the bottom of the standings with a 1-3 record. If Will Levis continues to put the ball in harm’s way, Tennessee will have no choice but to sell at the trade deadline, and Treylon Burks is one of the most likely candidates to find a new home. While the Arkansas product won’t fetch much in a trade, teams like the New Orleans Saints or Kansas City Chiefs could kick the tires on the former first-round talent to see if they can catch lightning in a bottle.
Saints, Chiefs Could Trade For Treylon Burks In Coming Days
Prior to the Derek Carr injury, most analysts across the league believed the Saints would be aggressive on the wide receiver trade market. Strongly linked to Davante Adams in betting odds, New Orleans could re-evaluate their situation if they falter without their veteran quarterback. Currently 2-3 and behind the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the race for the AFC South, the Saints season is all but over if fifth-round rookie Spencer Rattler plays like a fifth-round rookie. New Orleans shouldn’t surrender top draft capital for an elite wide receiver trade target, but they could send a conditional late-round pick for Treylon Burks.
New Orleans already has two reliable receivers in Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed. While someone like Davante Adams could give this grouping an elite ceiling, that potential would be wasted unless Rattler keeps the ship afloat while Carr returns to health. Treylon Burks could improve the Saints depth with A.T Perry released, and a trade wouldn’t impact New Orleans’ ability to add talent in 2025.
Chiefs Pass-Catching Woes
The Kansas City Chiefs need more wide receivers, but they could struggle to find interested trade partners. The Las Vegas Raiders won’t trade Adams to their division rivals, and there’s a chance the rest of the league shares a similar sentiment. Nobody wants to help the rich get richer, so Kansas City must outbid all competition to land someone like Amari Cooper or Diontae Johnson. Instead of paying high prices for one-year rentals, perhaps the Chiefs decide to go the cheap route and trade for a buy-low candidate like Treylon Burks.
Marquise Brown and Rashee Rice might be down for the count, but the Chiefs still have superstar Travis Kelce and first-round pick Xavier Worthy, and Week 5 showed that Juju Smith-Schuster still has something left in his tank. While a top-tier weapon would only improve their odds of becoming the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls, they don’t need one. All they need is another set of hands, and they could Treylon Burks could provide that in a low-risk trade.
