The Dallas Cowboys Week 4 win over the New York Giants might have come at a heavy price and could lead to a Cameron Jordan trade. Late in the fourth quarter of the dramatic win, superstar edge defender Micah Parsons went down with a left ankle injury. As of this posting, we do not know the severity of the injury, as Parsons told reporters he has an MRI scheduled for Friday. If this is just a one- or two-week injury, the Cowboys will likely roll with their current depth. However, Dallas could do something drastic if the three-time All-Pro misses extended time.
At 2-2, the Dallas Cowboys are in the thick of the playoff race. However, they play in one of the most competitive divisions in football, led by a talented Philadelphia Eagles squad and an up-and-coming Washington Commanders unit led by rookie phenomenon Jayden Daniels. With the offense struggling to find their late-season magic, they could try and trade for someone like the Saints Cameron Jordan. However, they won’t be the only team interested in his services, as the Baltimore Ravens could also use more help with their pass rush.
Ravens, Cowboys Possible Trade Destinations For Cameron Jordan
At the peak of his powers, Cameron Jordan was one of the most consistent and dangerous pass rushers in the NFL. From 2013 to 2022, the former first-round pick made eight Pro Bowls and one First-Team All-Pro selection while averaging over 10 sacks per season. Unfortunately, Jordan started to slow down in 2023, recording just two sacks in 17 games. Now playing in his age-35 season, the Saints made Jordan a glorified backup, as he’s played in under 50% of the snaps in all three contests. Even though the Saints are winning, Cameron Jordan would probably welcome a trade to a team that can give him more playing time.
Cameron Jordan is no Micah Parsons, but the trade candidate might be the best option available. Head coach Mike McCarthy nearly lost his job last year, and it’s safe to assume he won’t be back in 2025 without guiding this team on a deep playoff run. There is still a lot of football to be played, but the Cowboys don’t look as good as they did last year. Losing Parsons could sink this team, and while Jordan can’t completely replace him, he can serve as a band-aid fix over this metaphorical gaping wound.
Ravens Eyeing Pass Rush Help
The Baltimore Ravens narrowly beat the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3, and they might do the same in Cameron Jordan trade talks. At 1-2, the Ravens must do something to catch up with the 3-0 Pittsburgh Steelers in the race for the AFC North. Baltimore’s biggest problem to date has been holding onto leads, as the team blew a double-digit fourth-quarter lead to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 2 and nearly did the same to the Cowboys last week.
Lamar Jackson blames the coaches for these struggles, and he’s not entirely wrong. However, the opposing team can’t catch up without scoring points, and Baltimore’s defense in clear passing situations is worrisome. The Ravens know opposing offenses have no choice but to throw the ball late in the game, yet they’re powerless to stop it. Soft coverages certainly don’t help the issue, but Baltimore needs more reliable situational pass rushers alongside Kyle Van Noy and Odafe Oweh. A Cameron Jordan trade could provide this, as the present-day version of the current Saint is probably still better than the recently signed Yannick Ngakoue.
