Chiefs, Ravens, Saints Surprising Betting Favorites For All-Pro Trade Candidate

The Las Vegas Raiders could trade Davante Adams, and a few surprising teams have high odds to land the three-time All-Pro.
Davante Adams Trade

The odds of a Davante Adams trade increases with every Las Vegas Raiders loss, which means the wide receiver will likely be on the move in the next couple of weeks. The three-time All-Pro originally joined the Raiders back in the 2022 offseason and was supposed to be the missing piece for a Raiders team that surprisingly made it to the playoffs in 2022. Instead, the team collapsed under then-head coach Josh McDaniels, released Derek Carr, and is currently stuck in the early stages of a rebuild with no long-term answer at quarterback.

Now just months away from his 32nd birthday, Davante Adams would likely welcome a trade to a top contender as he chases a ring during the final years of his career. Bet Online recently posted odds for Adams’ next team, and while nobody should be surprised that the New York Jets are the betting favorites, there are a few surprising teams on the list.

Davante Adams Trade Odds: Surprising Teams Emerge As Favorites

Nobody should be surprised that the Kansas City Chiefs need another wide receiver. Despite their 3-0 record, the Chiefs offense is not its usual unstoppable self. Patrick Mahomes is still great, but he’s struggling to move the ball efficiently with Marquise Brown sidelined, Travis Kelce slowing down, and first-round pick Xavier Worthy adjusting to NFL life. Passing might be down across the league, but the Chiefs must trade for a weapon like Davante Adams to keep up with Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills ferocious passing attack.

The only question is whether the Raiders would trade Davante Adams to a division rival. Las Vegas won’t win the Super Bowl this year, and they probably won’t be competitive until after Adams passes his prime. However, that doesn’t mean they’re interested in seeing their most hated foe win their third consecutive Lombardi trophy. If Kansas City makes the highest offer, then perhaps the Raiders strike a deal. However, even then, the Chiefs would likely need to blow everyone else out of the water.

Ravens, Saints Financial Woes

At 1-2, the Baltimore Ravens have some work to do to get back into the playoff picture. Nobody denies the talent on this team, but they need to learn how to close out games. Lamar Jackson recently called out the coaching staff for this, saying that the team is too willing to take the foot off the gas. Perhaps head coach Jim Harbaugh needs to get more aggressive, or perhaps the Ravens need more than one reliable wide receiver. Zay Flowers is having a strong year, but a Davante Adams trade could give Baltimore’s passing attack some additional punch.

The Saints, meanwhile, came back to Earth against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3. Nobody should expect New Orleans to recapture their Weeks 1-2 form for the remainder of the season, but they’re better than what they showed last week. Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed are a fine duo, but adding Davante Adams via trade would give Derek Carr one of the league’s best supporting casts. Adams and Carr have an established rapport, so it shouldn’t take long for Klint Kubiak to incorporate him into the passing attack.

The only question is whether the Ravens and Saints have the cap space to pull off a Davante Adams trade. New Orleans is already well above the projected 2025 salary cap, while Baltimore had to part ways with several free agents during the offseason due to limited funds. Teams can restructure contracts to create space, but there are always long-term consequences for these actions. Will these teams be willing to mortgage their financial futures and send a draft pick for a player who is much closer to the end of his career than the beginning?
