Panthers, Chargers Could Land Titans First-Round Pick

It's only a matter of time before the Tennessee Titans trade wide receiver Treylon Burks, and a few teams could be interested.
Treylon Burks Trade

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks is on the trade block, and it seems like only a matter of time before Tennesse parts ways with their former first-round pick. Selected to effectively replace superstar wide receiver A.J. Brown, Burks showed some promise during his rookie season. Appearing in 11 games while making six starts, the wideout finished the season with 33 receptions for 444 yards and a touchdown on 54 targets.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t build on that performance in Year 2. Despite no real competition at the wide receiver position, Burks finished 2023 with just 16 receptions for 221 yards and no touchdowns. Now with a new head coach in Brian Callahan, Burks recorded just one reception for two yards in Week 1. Due to this lack of usage, Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox believes the Titans could trade Treylon Burks, and the Los Angeles Chargers and Carolina Panthers could be potential destinations.

Titans Could Trade Treylon Burks to Panthers, Chargers

The Carolina Panthers were the worst team in football last year, and they picked up right where they left off in Week 1. Despite the additions of Robert Hunt, Diontae Johnson, Xavier Legette, and Damien Lewis, the Panthers offense looks like the worst in football, and the defense clearly misses Brian Burns and Frankie Luvu. Carolina could be on a collision course with the first-overall pick, as Bryce Young doesn’t look like a franchise quarterback. This means the team will likely try to get younger, which could mean a trade for Treylon Burks.

Of course, Carolina won’t want to give up any draft capital in a potential Treylon Burks trade. So, they could trade Diontae Johnson to the Titans in exchange for Burks and a late-round pick. Carolina and Johnson reportedly have not begun discussions on an extension, so why would the Panthers keep a player who probably won’t be back in 2025? Assuming the season keeps going south, the Panthers might as well sell him for whatever they can get.

More Help For Herbert

Justin Herbert didn’t need to be great to pull off a 22-10 win against a weak Las Vegas Raiders roster. The quarterback finished the night with a relatively underwhelming 144 yards and a touchdown on 26 attempts (5.5 YPA), but the defense and running game came through for the victory. That won’t work against the NFL’s elite teams, however, and the Chargers must find more offensive firepower. Treylon Burks might not be the safest bet, but the Chargers could consider a low-risk trade to see if they can catch lightning in a bottle.

Herbert is one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks, but his wide receivers are arguably the worst in football. Second-round rookie Ladd McConkey showed some signs of life in Week 1, but the rest of the depth chart was as underwhelming as advertised. With DJ Chark on the injured reserve, head coach Jim Harbaugh must find some playmakers if he wants this team to match up against organizations like the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and Baltimore Ravens. Treylon Burks can’t power this offense singlehandedly, but a trade could provide some much-needed depth for this underwhelming group of pass-catchers.
