Marquise Brown will have to wait a few more weeks to make his Kansas City Chiefs debut, as the wide receiver landed on the injured reserve. The former first-round pick suffered a dislocated SC joint in the preseason and was expected to make his return early in the season. However, Jordan Schultz notes that the joint was “not healing correctly” and now requires surgery.

Marquise Brown Lands On Injured Reserve, Out At Least 4 Games
Marquise Brown joined the Chiefs following a successful career with the Baltimore Ravens and Arizona Cardinals. A first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Oklahoma product made an immediate name for himself while recording 46 receptions for 584 yards and seven touchdowns. Following two additional seasons with Baltimore, the team sent him to the Cardinals for a first-round pick. Brown spent the next two seasons in the desert before signing a one-year deal with Kansas City.
With Marquise Brown now on the injured reserve, 2024 first-round pick Xavier Worthy should see an uptick in work. The Texas product had an impressive rookie debut, hauling in two receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown while adding another score on a 21-yard carry. Brown and Worthy both excel as vertical threats, so Kansas City’s offense should remain elite while Brown is sidelined.
Of course, even with Marquise Brown injured, this offense will still run through Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Rashee Rice. Mahomes is the best quarterback of his generation, and while Kelce is showing signs of slowing down, he’s still one of the best tight ends in football. Rashee Rice won’t be suspended any time soon and is more than capable of winning in the short and intermediate part of the field. Combine these weapons with a strong running game led by Isiah Pacheco and the best interior offensive line in football and you have a well-oiled machine that should terrify opposing offenses.
