Popular Trade Candidate Praises Ravens Lamar Jackson

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams spoke glowingly about quarterback Lamar Jackson and could welcome a trade to the Ravens.
Davante Adams Trade

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has been the subject of trade talks throughout the offseason, and it’s easy to see why. Now 31 years old, the wide receiver is closer to the end of his career than the beginning and likely wants to spend his final years fighting for a Super Bowl championship. Unfortunately, that probably won’t happen with the Raiders, as the team enters the season with journeyman Gardner Minshew under center and several young but underdeveloped players throughout the roster.

While a reunion with Aaron Rodgers on the New York Jets is easily the most likely trade destination, Davante Adams made some recent comments that suggest another team is on his mind. With a Week 2 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens right around the corner, Adams couldn’t stop singing praises for two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson.

Davante Adams Praises Lamar Jackson – Could Welcome Trade To Ravens

Adams began his latest time with the press by complimenting what Lamar Jackson brings to the ground game. The 2018 first-round pick entered the league as a questionable passer with elite physical traits, and those haven’t gone away since joining the world’s highest competition.

“Dude changed the game,” Adams said. “He’s the best, in my opinion, best ball-carrier ever — no matter what position you want to talk about. I don’t think anybody’s as big of a threat carrying the football.”

Lamar Jackson has a strong case as the best runner at the quarterback position, but fans of Barry Sanders, Ladanian Tomlinson, and other rushing greats might disagree on the ‘best ever’ talks. What can’t be debated is what Jackson brought to the game. Since breaking out, every team in the league has tried to find the next great mobile threat with varying levels of success. Of course, Davante Adams knows Jackson is more than just a running threat, which makes a trade all the more likely.

“Obviously, he’s worked really hard to develop in the other parts of his game, as well, and you’ve seen that come a long way, too,” Adams said. “He’s a huge threat, somebody you gotta be accountable for out there and make sure you know what he’s doing.”

Could A Deal Go Down?

The Las Vegas Raiders will not trade Davante Adams until they are officially out of the playoff picture. However, with a subpar quarterback situation and a tough conference, it’s safe to assume they will be sellers at the deadline. If that happens, Baltimore could easily make a move. This team is one of the best in the AFC, but they could use another receiver to pair with Zay Flowers. Even if Rashod Bateman starts playing like a first-round pick, the Ravens could use as much offensive firepower as possible to match up with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The biggest issue will involve trying to outbid the New York Jets. Aaron Rodgers had a rough go of it in Week 1, but the four-time NFL MVP should return to form as he knocks off the rust from his Achilles injury. The Jets are all-in with Rodgers, and they won’t hesitate to trade for Davante Adams if they have a realistic shot at the playoffs. This team could use another wide receiver, and Rodgers clearly has a strong rapport with the former Packer. New York will probably outbid the Ravens for Adams, but if the Jets falter, Baltimore should have a good shot at him.
