The Kansas City Chiefs have the most popular fanbase in the league thanks in large part to superstar Taylor Swift. The 324-time award-winning musician began dating star tight end Travis Kelce near the start of the 2023 NFL season and quickly took center stage among the Chiefs fanbase, making appearances at multiple games and indirectly introducing a brand new demographic to the game of football.
Based on all reports, it seems like a season of watching Chiefs football has turned Taylor Swift into a legitimate fan. Recently, quarterback Patrick Mahomes sat down with NBC’s Chris Simms to discuss Swift and her budding interest in the game.
“I think it’s been cool to see the girls and the women that have really embraced watching football,” Mahomes said. “I know being a girl dad, how cool it is for me to see like these little girls, these daughters, and how much they’re loving to spend time with their dad, watching football. And then meeting Taylor, realizing how genuine and cool she is. I think that’s been special to me because she’s, like you said, the most famous person in the world…and she’s really interested in football, and she asks a lot of great questions. Started drawing up plays. We might have to put one in.”
Patrick Mahomes: Taylor Swift Is Drawing Up Plays for the Chiefs
Who knows what plays Taylor Swift is drawing up for the Chiefs, but head coach Andy Reid isn’t afraid to get plays from unusual sources. Last year, the three-time Super Bowl champion head coach admitted to taking a play designed by one of the team’s janitors. While we’ll probably never know if or when the Chiefs use one of Swift’s plays, it’s not completely out of the question to see one of her plays as Kansas City looks to become the first team to win three Super Bowls in as many seasons.
