Running backs are a position in fantasy football that people either dedicate a lot of their draft resources towards or none at all. Regardless of which end of the spectrum you fall, it’s time to rank the best running backs in fantasy football for 2024.
Note: This list is not definitive, and players within tiers can move around. Players on the borderline between tiers can also be interchangeable.
Drew’s Fantasy Football Running Back Rankings 2024
Running Backs 1-10
1. Christian McCaffrey
2. Breece Hall
3. Bijan Robinson
4. Saquon Barkley
5. Jonathan Taylor
6. Jahmyr Gibbs
7. Isaiah Pacheco
8. Kyren Williams
9. Travis Etienne
10. Derrick Henry
Christian McCaffrey is without question the best running back to draft this year, but it’s not going to be often you see him fall past the first overall pick. Given the rumors about a potential 50/50 redzone split between Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier, Breece Hall gets the bump over him.

Isaiah Pacheco is a player who has a lot of upside going into this season in the Kansas City offense. While Kyren Williams is going to be good, Blake Corum is also expected to be a big part of the run game for the Rams. De’Von Achane is extremely ex
Running Backs 11-20
11. James Cook
12. Rachaad White
13. Alvin Kamara
14. Joe Mixon
15. De’Von Achane
16. Kenneth Walker III
17. Josh Jacobs
18. James Conner
19. Zamir White
20. David Montgomery
This tier is where the list starts to shift from solid RB1 candidates to the high-end RB2 guys. James Cook just missed the cut for the Top 10, but he has a chance to be a top-10 running back if the Bills give him more goal line work. De’Von Achane is extremely explosive, but Joe Mixon’s consistency and position on the depth chart gives him the edge there.
James Conner and Zamir White are two of the best RB2 options as they will provide consistency in the backfield and do just enough to stay in your lineup.
Running Backs 21-30
21. D’Andre Swift
22. Aaron Jones
23. Rhamondre Stevenson
24. Javonte Williams
25. Brian Robinson Jr
26. Jaylen Warren
27. Jonathon Brooks
28. Najee Harris
29. Raheem Mostert
30. Zack Moss
This group is where you start reaching the “flyer” category. For example, Jonathon Brooks. The talent and upside are through the roof, but the injury is still a concern. There’s a chance he starts the season on the PUP list before being activated about halfway through.

There’s also the Pittsburgh duo that could be solid RB2 candidates, but it’s hard to tell on any given day who will see more of the work. Mike Tomlin often takes the “wait and see” approach based on early-game performances. These guys along with Zack Moss may be better suited as flex options.
Running Backs 31-40
31. Tyjae Spears
32. Devin Singletary
33. Nick Chubb
34. Tony Pollard
35. Austin Ekeler
36. Ezekiel Elliott
37. Jerome Ford
38. Chase Brown
39. Tyler Allgeier
40. Gus Edwards
This group is mainly players you want to stash on the bench. Someone like Allgeier who will get some goal line work is good player to grab later in the draft just in case. Nick Chubb has the potential to be really good this season, but it’s highly likely he goes on the PUP list as well.
Tyjae Spears and Devin Singletary can be value picks amongst this group as they’re in starting roles this season. Neither of them have ever been true workhorses, so don’t be shocked if and when they see a split workload some weeks.
Overall, you’ll want to try and get three or four of these guys on your roster this year. These are the best running backs for 2024 fantasy football, and the results will speak for themselves in January.
