The Los Angeles Chargers and the Baltimore Ravens are favorites to land surprising cut candidate, Ezekiel Elliott. According to a report, the star running back may be back in town but he may be on the move before this upcoming season. Elliott is one of the 11 Cowboy veterans who are in “danger” of not making the roster even though the Cowboys haven’t been seeing what he could do. Dallas decided to move on from Elliott in the first place before bringing him back to add some help in the backfield since Tony Pollard’s departure.

However, Dallas isn’t in a position to let go of one of their running backs since they don’t have reliability at the position. It would be shocking for the Cowboys to move on Elliott despite bringing him back this offseason but anything can happen. One source believes that Dallas is already desperate for help so he should be a lock after this year’s training camp. A lot has to happen for the Cowboys before they even think about releasing Elliott but his case helps since Dallas doesn’t have a lot of depth.

The Chargers are an obvious destination for the star running back since Jim Harbaugh wants to build a strong running game for Justin Herbert. However, it doesn’t happen as long as Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins are starters since they have excellent track records of injuries. The Ravens don’t require depth but they should think about who’s behind Derrick Henry as a backup. Keaton Mitchell is returning from a season-ending injury and most workload is going to Henry so they should be able to have both of them including Elliott to share the ball carries.

Here are some other potential destinations for Ezekiel Elliott.

Other Potential Destinations

New Orleans Saints

The Saints don’t have anything to lose since they are in cap hell and don’t have a lot of talent on their offense for Derek Carr. Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed may have some potential but no one should expect this team to make the playoffs considering the circumstances. They may have Alvin Kamara as one of the best running backs in the league but there’s been rumors that the team could move on from him in the future. It would help sustain their salary cap but one should consider adding depth anyway and Elliott would be a cost-effective option.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers have been busy this offseason stacking up talent for Bryce Young. Even though they have a crowded running back room, they should trade one in the backfield and add another. The thought of trading Elliott and getting Miles Sanders in return to land in Dallas wouldn’t be a bad deal for both sides. Sanders wants more snaps and he would easily get them with the Cowboys who are already lacking depth.

Kansas City Chiefs

Elliott would probably go back to elite form if he ends up with the Chiefs one day. They may have Isiah Pacheco for the long term but the depth doesn’t look promising if he goes down with an injury. Jerick McKinnon was their best backup but somehow they only brought back Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the mix. Elliott may be slowing down each year from now on but he could be a valuable asset to the Chiefs running scheme if he becomes available.
