The Seattle Seahawks are trying out 5,000-yard free agent wide receiver, Robbie Chosen and may sign him soon to a contract. According to a report, the veteran will participate in a minicamp for a tryout to see if he gets another opportunity in the league. The free agent market hasn’t been nice to the former Miami Dolphin as he remains unsigned. During that span, he was able to appear in nine games for the Dolphins but played only a total of 135 offensive snaps.

However, Chosen has been a journeyman in his career as he’s been between the active roster and practice squad last year. He split the 2022 campaign between the Panthers and Cardinals while playing for the Jets earlier in his NFL journey. Chosen went through several name changes while bouncing around clubs to solidify his spot on a roster. It hasn’t been working out for him considering he had some potential with the Jets but nothing has been special for his career.

Things were looking rampant in his tenure for the Panthers notching 95 catches for 1,096 yards. However, it only got worse for Chosen who was traded to the Cardinals, only having minimal impact on the team. The Seahawks are currently strong at the depth chart with D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett alongside Jaxon Smith-Njigba. It seems like they’re bringing in Chosen to create some competition at the position for depth.

The team has Dee Eskridge in the final year of his contract with the recent addition of Laviska Shenault. This seems to be why the team wants to bring in a wideout that would help the upcoming talent. Seattle still has a full roster and $1.41 million salary cap. Don’t expect this to be a huge signing but a depth one.

Possible Destinations

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers haven’t been able to get any star power to their receiving corps after having many chances to give Justin Herbert some veteran options. However, they were able to get DJ Chark but he doesn’t have any long-term promise to drive the offense under Jim Harbaugh’s new regime. Mike Williams and Keenan Allen were like the heart and soul of Herbert’s success to even become a top-10 quarterback. There are going to be some struggles this upcoming year so they don’t have anything to lose if they were to sign Chosen.

Kansas City Chiefs

The last thing on the Chiefs’ mind would be the receiver position but the more they get, the better. Rashee Rice is going to miss some time and there aren’t a lot of available playmakers on the market. They might as well find some veteran help for Marquise Brown who’s going to lead this team alongside Kadarius Toney and Xavier Worthy. It’s hard to imagine this offense without Marquez Valdes-Scantling but they were able to re-sign Mecole Hardman.

Baltimore Ravens

Chosen was showing some promise in his days with Carolina, but he may be able to find himself teaming with Lamar Jackson. He can pretty much make anyone on the team a star in the making which he’s already doing with Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews. However, they need some type of veteran insurance to keep this offense alive to help Rashod Bateman in the slot. The loss of Odell Beckham Jr. reveals the team needs an outsider to come in on critical downs to make a crucial play.

New Orleans Saints

Dennis Allen needs to do something about this team’s receiving corps. Derek Carr had one of the worst seasons in his debut last year with the team. Chris Olave is forming into elite form but there aren’t many of him to help accommodate the offense. Chosen gives the Saints a low-risk, low reward-for their roster since they don’t have any established veterans.

Dallas Cowboys

Things don’t look bright for the receivers for America’s team since they haven’t been able to extend CeeDee Lamb. He’s their best wideout on the roster and all they would be left are Brandin Cooks, KaVontae Turpin and Jalen Tolbert. The Cowboys need to get their roster back on their feet and Chosen would give them a cheap option.
