Michael Gallup, Las Vegas Raiders, Agree to Contract
Following a massive contract extension in the 2022 offseason, Michael Gallup has put up two unremarkable seasons for the Cowboys. The wide receiver tore his ACL at the conclusion of the 2021 season and never seemed to have regained his old burst. In 2022, the wideout recorded just 39 receptions for 424 yards and four touchdowns. He followed this up with 34 receptions for 418 yards and two touchdowns in 2023. Set to carry a massive cap hit, the Cowboys decided to release the veteran at the start of the 2024 league year.
Michael Gallup originally entered the league as a third-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Selected by the Dallas Cowboys, the Colorado State product made an immediate impact on his team. Appearing in 16 games while making eight starts, the rookie finished his inaugural season with 33 receptions for 507 yards and two touchdowns.
Gallup built on this promising campaign and earned a full-time starting job in 2019. Paired with Amari Cooper, the wide receiver finished the season with 66 receptions for 1,107 yards and six touchdowns on 113 targets. All of these numbers remain career highs to this day.
The Cowboys added CeeDee Lamb in the 2020 NFL Draft, pushing Gallup down the depth chart. However, this didn’t prevent him from remaining a key part of the passing attack. In total, the former third-round pick finished the season with 59 receptions for 843 yards and five touchdowns while primarily catching passes from Andy Dalton.
Injuries limited Michael Gallup to nine games in 2021, but he remained productive in the final year of his rookie contract. While on the field, the Colorado State product recorded 35 receptions for 445 yards and two touchdowns on 62 targets.
