5 Teams That Could Draft Historically Gifted Athlete

Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell is one of the most gifted players in the 2024 NFL Draft and should be high on several teams boards

The 2024 NFL Draft is just weeks away, and Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell should have several teams interested in securing his services. While he’s not the most polished player in his class, he might have the highest ceiling of any wideout – including elite prospects like Marvin Harrison Jr and Malik Nabers. Mitchell dominated the NFL Combine, posting insane testing numbers that rank among some of the best in history.

Adonai Mitchell is a world-class athlete, but teams should know he’s more than just a workout warrior. The wide receiver has the ball skills to catch anything thrown in his zip code and the explosiveness to break out of routes and create separation. He should be a good player right out of the gate and has the potential to be a great one if he improves his footwork and strength at the catch point. Any team in the league would love to have a player like him on their roster, and these five make the most sense.

5 Teams That Could Draft Adonai Mitchell

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills couldn’t capitalize on Josh Allen’s rookie window, as the quarterback’s cap hit has exploded. Fortunately, Allen is worth every cent of his paycheck and will keep this team competitive as long as he has a reliable wideout. While Curtis Samuel and Khalil Shakir are fine role players, Adonai Mitchell can instill fear into opposing teams. Pairing his ability to make plays at all three levels of the field with Allen’s unmatched arm could lead to an offense that won’t miss the aging Diggs in the slightest.

Kansas City Chiefs

Rashee Rice is in serious legal trouble, which means that the Chiefs are once again in the wide receiver market. Seeing as teams won’t even negotiate with Kansas City, they’ll have to draft someone like Adonai Mitchell if they want to improve. Even if Rice avoids a long-term suspension, Kansas City could still use another playmaker. After all, Travis Kelce isn’t getting any younger, and Marquise Brown is only under contract for one season.

Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers don’t have a first-round pick, so they might have to jump a few teams to get Adonai Mitchell. Generally, trading up isn’t a good idea for teams in the midst of a rebuild, but this could be the exception to the rule. Diontae Johnson and Adam Thielen are fine short-term options at receiver, but Mitchell has legitimate superstar potential. If everything works out, Mitchell and Bryce Young could spend the next decade terrorizing the NFC South.

New England Patriots

The Patriots are going to select a quarterback with their first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Their second pick should be devoted to making that quarterback’s life as easy as possible. New England’s wide receiver core is one of the worst in football, and a young passer will struggle to survive in this environment. Adonai Mitchell would easily be this teams top wide receiver and will help develop New England’s next franchise quarterback.

Baltimore Ravens

Odell Beckham already said his goodbyes to the Baltimore Ravens, which means the team will need to find a replacement in the 2024 NFL Draft. Zay Flowers looks like a good find, but Adonai Mitchell could bring an entirely different element to this offense. With defenses focusing on Lamar Jackson’s rushing ability, the Texas product should be able to exploit single coverage and create big plays on a routine basis.
