Kansas City Chiefs Seven-Round Mock Draft

This Kansas City Chiefs mock draft sees the reigning Super Bowl champions rebuild their offensive core with athletic playmakers.
Chiefs Mock Draft

The Kansas City Chiefs were one of the biggest winners of free agency, which means this mock draft can focus on primarily taking the best players available. While there are still a few holes on the roster, the fact of the matter is that this is one of the most complete teams in football with the organizational structure for maintained success. The team is going for the first three-peat in NFL history, and the following picks will increase their odds of winning it all in 2024.

Note that this exercise was performed using the Pro Football Network Mock Draft Simulator. If the player was on the board when the Chiefs were on the clock, they were fair game. Also note that this Chiefs mock draft does not include trades.

Seven-Round Kansas City Chiefs Mock Draft

First Round (32nd Overall): Adonai Mitchell, WR

The Chiefs addressed their short-term need for a wide receiver with the Marquise Brown signing, this mock draft gives them a long-term solution for the position. While Xavier Worthy stole the show with his 40-yard dash, Adonai Mitchell is a better athlete and projects to be a better pro. His testing numbers are off the chart, and his film shows a player who knows how to use his athletic gifts to find the endzone and separate against man coverage. While he’s not the toughest receiver, he should immediately contribute to this passing attack.

Second Round (64th Overall): Ja’Tavion Sanders, TE

Ideally, the Chiefs will take a tackle or cornerback at this point in the mock draft. However, with no worthy players on the board, Kansas City looks to the future and drafts a player who could be the heir to Travis Kelce. While Ja’Tavion Sanders will never match Kelce’s elite level of play, the Texas product has all the skills to be a top-five receiving tight end in the game. Sanders might not make the biggest impact in 2024, but with Kelce getting older, the Chiefs need to start thinking about what comes next at the position.

Third Round (95th Overall): Kris Abrams-Draine, CB

With the odds of a L’Jarius Sneed trade increasing by the day, the Chiefs need to get another cornerback. Kris Abrams-Draine has some of the best ball skills in the class and should be a natural fit in this defense. While he is on the smaller side, he used to be a wide receiver, and you see that history in the way he moves and with his reliable hands. With other teams constantly throwing the ball to keep up with Patrick Mahomes, Abrams-Draine could easily finish his rookie year with five interceptions.

Fourth Round (132nd Overall): Delmar Glaze, OT

It’s too late in the mock draft for the Chiefs to find a starting-caliber tackle. However, they can get a reliable third option in Maryland’s Delmar Glaze. While he doesn’t have the quick feet or strength to be a full-time starter, the prospect has experience at both tackle positions and could easily fill in at either spot in case of emergency.

Fifth Round (159th Overall): Zak Zinter, OG

Every selection after the fifth round in the Chiefs mock draft is about taking the best player available and worrying about fit later. Kansas City has arguably the best interior line in football, but you can have too much depth at the position. Zak Zinter is a strong run blocker whose limited athleticism can be masked by playing along the interior. Measuring in at 6′-6″ and 309 pounds, he also has the size to hold his own as a pass protector.

Fifth Round (173rd Overall): Gabe Hall, DT

The biggest weakness of Kansas City’s defense last year was their relative inability to stop the run. While that’s not a serious issue, the Chiefs address that need in the fifth round of this mock draft. Gabe Hall doesn’t have the quickness or agility to get after the quarterback, but he has the anchoring strength to clog up run lanes and shut down opposing rushing attacks. He’ll be a great situational player, which is all you can hope for at this point in the draft.

Seventh Round (252nd Overall): Kimani Vidal, RB

Isiah Pacecho deserves his spot atop the Chiefs running back depth chart, but this mock draft brings competition for the RB2 position. Kimani Vidal can read blocks well and take what’s given while also offering decent upside as a receiver. He struggles as a pass blocker shouldn’t matter too much, as Kansas City rarely leaves their backs to stay in pass protection.
