13-year veteran offensive tackle Tyron Smith signed a new contract with the New York Jets. Smith, a two-time All-Pro, eight-time Pro Bowler, and member of the All-2010’s team, spent the entirety of his career with the Dallas Cowboys.

Tyron Smith, New York Jets, Agree to Contract
Despite his advanced age, Tyron Smith remained as reliable as ever in the final year of his contract. Starting and appearing in 13 games, Dak Prescott’s blindside protector finished the season with an 83.7 PFF grade, good for the fourth-best mark amongst offensive tackles. Smith’s impressive play helped the team win the NFC South with a 12-5 record, although they ultimately fell to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round.
Tyron Smith originally entered the league as a first-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Selected by the Dallas Cowboys, the USC product wasted no time in making an impact on the football field. Starting in all 16 games, Smith began his career at right tackle before switching to the left side in 2012. After two strong seasons, he quickly established himself as one of the best in the game in 2013.
Smith’s play from 2013 to 2019 is some of the best you’ll ever see from an offensive tackle. During that seven-year run, Smith made seven Pro Bowl teams and earned First-Team All-Pro honors in the 2014 and 2016 seasons. While he missed a few games here and there, he remained one of the best at his position whenever he was on the field.
Unfortunately, injuries started to strike later on in his career. In 2020, Smith had neck surgery, ending his season after just two games. After playing 11 games in 2021, he only suited up four times in 2022 thanks to a training camp hamstring injury.
Since signing his rookie contract, Tyron Smith has started and played in 161 total games. While on the field, the USC product has established himself as one of the best tackles of his generation.
