Five-year NFL veteran and one-time Pro Bowler Devin White has signed a new contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. White, a former first-round pick and Super Bowl champion, spent the entirety of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Devin White’s rookie contract expired at possibly the worst time. After establishing himself as one of the most explosive highlight machines at the position, White spent a portion of the offseason publicly demanding a new contract or team. Unfortunately for White, neither request was granted and he spent the year with Tampa Bay. While he started in his usual starting role, his playing time decreased as the season progressed. The linebacker finished the season with 83 tackles, five tackles-for-loss, nine quarterback hits, and 2.5 sacks in 14 games. The Buccaneers themselves, however, had a strong season, winning the NFC North and making it all the way to the Divisional Round.

White originally entered the NFL as a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the LSU product immediately earned a starting position on the defense. Starting and appearing in 13 games, the rookie finished his inaugural season with 91 tackles, four tackles-for-loss, five quarterback hits, one interception, and three forced fumbles. The Buccaneers signed Tom Brady in the following offseason, and White played a big role in helping that team win the Super Bowl. Starting in 15 games, Devin White set career-highs in tackles (140), tackles-for-loss (15), and sacks (nine) while also recording an impressive 16 quarterback hits.

Following that breakout campaign, Devin White earned his first Pro Bowl nomination in 2021. Appearing in all 17 games for the first time in his career, the LSU product recorded 128 tackles, eight tackles-for-loss, a career-high 18 quarterback hits, and 3.5 sacks. Unfortunately, the Buccaneers could not repeat as Super Bowl champions, as they fell to the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round.

Since signing his rookie contract, Devin White has recorded 566 tackles, 40 tackles-for-loss, 64 quarterback hits, and 23 sacks.
