Patrick Queen, Pittsburgh Steelers, Agree to Contract
Linebacker Patrick Queen had the best season of his career in the final year of his rookie contract. Starting alongside Roquan Smith, Queen finished the year with 3.5 sacks, 133 tackles, nine tackles-for-loss, and six quarterback hits. This impressive campaign earned him Second-Team All-Pro honors and a spot on the Pro Bowl roster as the Ravens themselves made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game.
Patrick Queen originally entered the NFL as a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Selected by the Baltimore Ravens, the LSU product mad an immediate impact as a 16-game starter. While on the field, the rookie recorded three sacks, 106 tackles, nine tackles-for-loss, and 10 quarterback hits. He made a positive impact on the league, finishing third in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.
Queen followed this up with a similar season in 2021. Starting in all 17 games, the LSU product finished the second year of his contract with two sacks, 98 tackles, 10 tackles-for-loss, and three quarterback hits. The team could not make the playoffs, thanks in large part to injuries to quarterback Lamar Jackson.
After that relatively stagnant year, Queen shows true signs of growth in 2022. Once again starting every game, the linebacker finished the season by setting a career-high in sacks (5.0) while also recording 117 tackles, nine tackles-for-loss, and 14 quarterback hits. The Ravens went 10-7, making the playoffs but losing in the first round to Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Since signing his rookie contract, Patrick Queen has started and appeared in 67 games. While on the field, the one-time Pro Bowler has recorded four interceptions, 13.5 sacks, 454 tackles, 37 tackles-for-loss, and 33 quarterback hits.
