In 2023, Johnson had a breakout season with the Bears. The cornerback earned a stunning 90.8 PFF grade and was named Second-Team All-Pro. He ended this past season with 36 tackles, four interceptions, 10 pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 14 games this past season.

Johnson was drafted 50th overall in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Standing at 6’0″ and 196 pounds, Johnson made his presence felt on the field. He had an impactful rookie season with the Bears, concluding with 44 combined tackles and 15 passes defended.

Facing a new challenge in his sophomore season due to the departure of longtime teammate Kyle Fuller, Johnson seized the opportunity to prove himself as the team’s primary cornerback. He showcased his abilities by intercepting Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow in his debut as CB1. By the end of his second season, Johnson had accumulated 46 total tackles (37 solo) and nine passes defended, signaling a positive trajectory for his career.

This past season, Johnson blossomed into one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. Johnson was named to his first Pro Bowl and was also PFF’s highest-rated cornerback through Week 17 of the 2023 NFL season. During the Pro Bowl, Johnson voiced his opinion on the contract situation after his standout performance in 2023. “Heart’s definitely in Chicago, mind’s definitely on the money,” Johnson stated. Johnson finished this past season as one of the premier cornerbacks in the NFL. It was only a matter of time before Johnson got a significant bump in pay.

Jaylon Johnson has appeared in 53 games throughout his career while making 39 starts, all with Chicago. His career stats are 125 total tackles (99 solo), 31 PDs, five interceptions, and three forced fumbles.
