Reese’s Senior Bowl Exclusive Interview: Tyler Davis – Clemson DT

Exclusive interview with defensive tackle Tyler Davis from Clemson at Reese's Senior Bowl Media Day.

Tyler Davis was a Second-team All-American in 2022, becoming the first defensive player in Clemson history to be named a four-time all-ACC selection. He is a powerful, explosive player who displays solid leverage from his balanced frame at 6’2″, 300 pounds. Davis also has excellent first-step quickness that will be very valuable for the team that drafts him. In his final season as a Tiger, he broke Christian Wilkins’ record for starts for a defensive tackle and then set the school record for most career starts by any defensive player at 52. Davis hopes to continue the long line of Clemson defensive tackles who have excelled in the NFL.

I sat down with the Clemson standout at Reese’s Senior Bowl Media Day as he talked about the strengths of his game and his love for his coaches.

Reese’s Senior Bowl Exclusive Interview: Tyler Davis – Clemson DT

LWONFL: How did your time at Clemson prepare you for the next level?

Davis: “It was amazing, and the experience was great. They really prepared me as a man and a football player by giving you a lot of tools for football and as a man to be successful with the culture they built.”

LWONFL: How was it playing for Dabo? Did you enjoy playing under his leadership? He seems like a father-figure type of coach.

Davis: “I enjoyed it very, very much. He very much is. He’s someone who is very true to his beliefs that’s going to inspire you to run through a wall.”

LWONFL: How do you feel your first, two days here in Mobile have gone? Do you feel like you’ve been well prepared?

Davis: “They’ve been good. I feel like I’ve been prepared for a lot. Having coach (Nick) Eason coming from the NFL has been a big blessing as a mentor.”

LWONFL: I wanted to ask you about Coach Eason as he coached under Zac Taylor for the Bengals for one season. What was your favorite thing about him?

Davis: “Just the man that he is and the relationship that he builds with players and the culture he built is definitely phenomenal.”

LWONFL: What are your biggest strengths you feel will translate well at the next level?

Davis: “I think of my effort and the consistent motor that I play with.”

LWONFL: Any aspects of your game you can refine?

Davis: “You know, always getting better with my hand placement, you can never have perfect hands and stay away from grabbing.”

LWONFL: Thank you for your time, and good luck at the next level.

Davis: “Thank you very much.”
