Washington Commanders Could Hire Dallas Cowboys DC

Here is how the Dan Quinn rumors are heating up after a successful second interview with the Washington Commanders, lining up to hire him.
Dan Quinn Rumors

The Washington Commanders could hire Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn after he has one option left regarding head coaching opportunities. He reportedly had a successful second interview with the Commanders, which could mean he may get hired. Just after, it was reported the Seattle Seahawks are hiring Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator, Mike Macdonald to be their head coach. Many thought he would reunite with Seattle as their new head coach after letting go of Pete Carroll.

Quinn had multiple interviews with the Commanders as he remains the lone top candidate. This is especially after Detroit Lions offensive coordinator, Ben Johnson took himself out of the running. It’s like a game of musical chairs for Washington; they’re at the last seat to fill in their need. They may be very persuasive these next few days, as they are looking to restart their franchise after firing Ron Rivera.

If Quinn decides not to coach the Commanders, then he will likely head back to coordinate the Dallas Cowboys for a fourth season. There’s a decision that’s anticipated very soon rather than later, Cowboys fans are hoping Quinn comes back. However, there are sources that if Washington offers him the head coaching position, then he’ll likely leave.

The Dallas Cowboys and Quin plan a reunion, but that depends on if Washington hires him. It would be a nightmare for Dallas after Quinn fabricated one of the best defenses in the league with them.

Dan Quinn Rumors: He Could Land With Washington

He Could Be a Good Fit

Washington is chasing after the longevity of their program, which is why they brought Quinn back for a second interview. They also did this by bringing in long-time assistant general manager for the 49ers, Adam Peters as their new general manager. This got the Dan Quinn rumors heating up and the Commanders aren’t backing down. However, Quinn is still not the popular choice amongst Washington fans.

They would probably want an offensive coach, not a former defensive coordinator. This could be true as Quinn formed the Legion of Boom in 2013, which led to his first coaching opportunity with the Atlanta Falcons. He was with Atlanta for six seasons and Falcons fans might want to forget that time. Things may change and the scenery could be different this time in Washington.

Even though Quinn did go back to being a defensive coordinator and found instant success, he could be ready now for a head coaching job. Despite his head coaching fallout which led to his release, there is still room for him to be great in Washington. This would be up to convincing the new GM, Peters to build an elite offensive staff with a potential young quarterback. However, that would first begin in free agency and the 2024 NFL Draft.

Washington Doesn’t Have Many Options

There are always options in the league, but Quinn is the top candidate that’s available. The Commander’s owner, Josh Harris has a lot on his plate to decide soon. If not then they’ll see Quinn at least another couple of years two times a season. Chances are slim if they pass up Quinn as other teams are snagging available coaches.

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator, Ben Johnson already turned them down so why not Quinn? This would heat up the bitter rivalry in the NFC East. There are so many compelling things to come. Even the possibility of the Dallas Cowboys bringing in Ron Rivera as defensive coordinator if Quinn leaves.
