Fantasy Football Running Back Rankings: Week 14

In a shocking move, Christian McCaffrey tops our Week 14 fantasy football running back rankings. It's playoff time.
Week 14 Running Back Rankings

The Arizona Cardinals and Washington Commanders are on bye this week, so a few lower-end options aren’t available. If fantasy managers are still checking rankings in Week 14, congratulations on your first round of the playoffs or fighting for playoff seeding. Keep grinding, and use these Week 14 running back rankings to crush your matchup.

Fantasy Football Running Back Rankings: Week 14

Tier 1: Elite Options

  • Christian McCaffrey
  • Alvin Kamara
  • Joe Mixon

Two PPR machines and a grinder in a great matchup. Mixon just had seven targets last week with two touchdowns, and now gets the Colts who give up the 3rd most points to running backs.

Tier 2: Must Start Studs

  • Saquon Barkley
  • Travis Etienne
  • Austin Ekeler
  • De’Von Achane
  • Kyren Williams
  • Zach Moss
  • Raheem Mostert

Maybe stud isn’t the right word for Moss, but in games without Taylor, he has dominated. Both Miami running backs can explode on any given week on limited touches, while Williams Ekeler and Barkley are the volume kings. All possess a safe floor with week-winning ceilings.

Tier 3: Fringe RB1s and High End RB2s

  • Isiah Pacheco
  • Jahmyr Gibbs
  • Bijan Robinson
  • David Montgomery
  • Aaron Jones*
  • Javonte Williams

The Detroit Lions split will continue to frustrate fantasy managers for years to come. Even so, they both get a good matchup and have the talent to house it on any play. If Jones returns from his MCL sprain this week he’ll be a target monster with Christian Watson out.

Tier 4: RB2s

  • Breece Hall
  • James Cook
  • Tony Pollard
  • Josh Jacobs
  • Derrick Henry*
  • Rachaad White
  • Jaylen Warren

Trying to guess what week Tony Pollard will be relevant is a headache. He’s struggled against Philly earlier in the year, so this feels like about the right spot. This group has some solid rushers but it feels like their upside is capped either due to a tough matchup or a stagnant offense.

Tier 5: We’re Bringing FLEXy Back

  • Chuba Hubbard
  • Najee Harris
  • Ezekiel Elliot
  • D’Andre Swift
  • Kenneth Walker*
  • Zach Charbonnet
  • Alexander Mattison
  • Gus Edwards

Chuba Hubbard has become a pleasant surprise for the Carolina Panthers. That offense is gross to watch, but he keeps scoring fantasy points so that’s nice. Harris and Elliot matchup in the battle of sadness on Thursday Night Football. Walker has a brutal matchup, but if he’s not active this week Charbonnet will shoot up the Week 14 running back rankings (into the next tier). Gus Edwards can’t score a touchdown every week, right?

Tier 6: Start Them As Required

  • Jerome Ford
  • A.J. Dillon
  • Tyjae Spears
  • Keaton Mitchell
  • Kareem Hunt
  • Khalil Herbert
  • Devin Singletary
  • Dameon Pierce
  • Roschon Johnson
  • Ty Chandler
  • Tyler Allgeier
  • Latavius Murray

Each of these players has appeal for their own reasons. Mitchell has the highest ceiling of the bunch, given that he has the speed to score ten fantasy points on a single play. Dillon and Spears become RB2 options if their running mate goes down, with Spears getting a slight edge if that happens. Singletary was great with Pierce out, but with both of them back there and C.J. Stroud stealing the show, it’s a situation to avoid. Bears running backs are a three-headed nightmare, but not in a fun way like Cerberus. Latavius Murray and Ty Chandler are change-of-pace backs with very different paces, but Murray is more likely to keep his status quo role. Scrolling any lower in Week 14 running back rankings for a FLEX option isn’t ideal, go for a boom-bust wide receiver instead.
