Chiefs’ Chris Jones Shares Rival’s Reaction to Aaron Rodgers’ Injury

Kansas City Chiefs star Chris Jones shared a message from Aaron Rodgers' former teammate placing blame for the quarterback's injury.
Rodgers Injury

Kansas City Chiefs star Chris Jones shared a post from Green Bay Packers left tackle David Bakhtiari reacting to the injury suffered by New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Monday Night Football. On his fourth play from scrimmage, Rodgers was taken down by former Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Rams EDGE Leonard Floyd, suffering a torn Achilles tendon.

“WTF!!!! That injury is TURF related,” Bakhtiari posted. “Can we put an end to this s*** already.”

Chiefs’ Chris Jones Shares Message Blaming Turf for Aaron Rodgers’ Injury

Bakhtiari and Rodgers spent 10 years together as teammates on the Packers, winning the division six times and making it to the NFC Championship Game four times.

“Congrats @nfl. How many more players have to get hurt on ARTIFICIAL TURF??! You care more about soccer players than us,” Bakhtiari said in another post. “You plan to remove all artificial turf for the World Cup coming up. So clearly it’s feasible. I’m sick of this..Do better!”

The matter of turf versus grass is not a new one. And, while grass has seemingly long been the preference for players, 14 of 30 NFL stadiums still use turf similar to that used at MetLife Stadium where the injury occurred. Stadium officials updated the turf at MetLife ahead of this season after a rash of injuries.

It received positive reviews from players while Rodgers, 39, dealt with a calf injury this summer.

Fans Poke Fun at Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes After Aaron Rodgers Injury Tweet

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes sent out a message in reaction to his counterpart’s misfortune in the immediate aftermath. But a missing comma threw social media into an uproar leading Mahomes to edit his post.

“Hate that, man… Praying for the best,” read Mahomes’ corrected post which he followed with another. “Knew i was going to need that edit button on here one of these days.”

“Proud of this edit,” posted Merriam-Webster’s – aka the dictionary – social media account.

“A comma can really save a man,” posted @awhbit.”

Jets head coach Robert Saleh named former No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson the starter for the rest of the season right after the game. Official word of Rodgers’ injury came down soon after. New York overcame the loss of Rodgers’ and a 13-6 deficit to beat the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo’s Josh Allen took the blame for the loss after throwing three interceptions and losing one of two fumbles.

Details of Chris Jones’ Contract Emerge

Jones rejoins his teammates after agreeing to a one-year contract that will pay him up to $25 million with incentives, per ESPN’s Adam Teicher on September 12. But colleague Jeremey Fowler noted the Chiefs can franchise tag Jones next offseason. That could set them up for a repeat of this offseason.

Before the new deal, the one-time All-Pro counted for more than $28 million against the cap.

Kansas City lost to the Detroit Lions in the season opener, though many pointed to the wide receiving corps and offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor over the defense as the cause for the letdown on banner-raising night.
