There are officially no more Sunday’s without football until February. With that, it’s time to bring the first installment of fantasy football receiver rankings with the stud wide receivers drafted before Week 1.

Fantasy Football Week 1 Wide Receiver Rankings: How Much Faith Is There In Cooper Kupp?

Tier 1: Start Your Studs

  1. Justin Jefferson
  2. Ja’Marr Chase
  3. Tyreek Hill
  4. Ceedee Lamb
  5. Stefon Diggs
  6. Davante Adams

If any of these receivers are on the roster, it’s an easy Week 1 start. Justin Jefferson is the clear-cut WR1 heading into the 2023 season and chances are high a top-two pick was used to obtain him.

Every week he will be a must-start, but other matchups to look at include Tyreek Hill against the Los Angeles Chargers and Ja’Marr Chase against the Cleveland Browns. Hill provides a matchup nightmare for any corner and will look to continue soaring in an expected high-scoring Week 1 matchup.

Chase gets the chance to feast on a banged-up Browns secondary. While the scoring may not be as high due to the divisional matchup, Chase’s ability to break a game at any moment makes him a choice for the best wide receiver in Week 1.

Tier 2: Safe Choice With Wr1 Upside

7. Amon-Ra St. Brown
8. Garrett Wilson
9. Cooper Kupp*

11. A.J. Brown
12. Jaylen Waddle
13. Tee Higgins

Hard to beat a guy who is on Matthew Berry’s “Ride or Die.” Amon-Ra St. Brown is expected to exceed his already top-tier season and opens up the season against the Kansas City Chiefs.  With Patrick Mahomes on the other side, a shootout is all but a guarantee.

On the topic of wide receivers ready to excel, Garrett Wilson is on many lists of breakout candidates. Aaron Rodgers and Wilson have been the buzz of training camp. However, the Jets face a tough Buffalo Bills team looking to retake the AFC East.

The biggest high-risk high-reward man on this list is easily Cooper Kupp. Unfortunately, Kupp had a setback and his Week 1 status remains up in the air. However, if Kupp ultimately starts he quickly bolsters himself as one of the scariest fantasy wide receivers in the league, and that could propel him into tier-one range.

Tier 3: WR2

14. Chris Olave
15. DeVonta Smith
16. Keenan Allen
17. Calvin Ridley
18. Deebo Samuel
19. Amari Cooper
20. Tyler Lockett
21. Chris Godwin

The New Orleans Saints own the easiest schedule and open up with a home matchup against the Tennessee Titans. While there are some question marks, Chris Olave is clearly the lead receiver whom many took as a mid-round gem. With Derek Carr at the helm, Olave should feast.

While Olave has proven himself, Calvin Ridley was suspended for an entire year and a name many fans forgot about. Fortunately for fantasy owners who are taking a chance, Ridley has been the highlight of the Jacksonville Jaguars training camp. An expected leap for Trevor Lawrence is coming up and Ridley will be right there with him to coast into the sunset.

Tier 4: Worthy WR3/Flex Options

27. D.J. Moore

It wasn’t too long ago DeAndre Hopkins was a bonafide top-five fantasy receiver. While Ryan Tannehill may not light up the scoreboard, with so few options at receiver Hopkins has the chance the shine bright. D.J. Moore may be the most intriguing of the bunch heading into a new Chicago Bears system.

Justin Fields tops many lists of breakout candidates while Moore still has plenty left in the tank. We’ve seen how much a good receiver can help a young quarterback, and Moore can surprise people in Week 1.

George Pickens has been lighting up during training camp and already had enough highlights last season to keep fans excited. Pickens is slowly becoming Kenny Pickett’s favorite target and will look to grow his already emphatic sample size.
