Josh Allen 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

Josh Allen Fantasy Football

Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills are once again knocking at the door of a Super Bowl. Allen who was once labeled as an inaccurate quarterback now seems like a distant memory.

Instead, the highlight machine will find a way to get the ball into the end zone. When he can not do it with his hands, he will either run over or through a defender with no regard.

All the pieces are in place for Allen, but can he make his way to being the No. 1 fantasy quarterback?

Stefon Diggs Is More Than Enough Help

The knock on any fantasy quarterback is the lack of a legit No. 1 wide receiver. Lamar Jackson is the main example of this issue both for fantasy and real-life development.

When Allen was labeled as inaccurate, the Bills did what needed to be done to change the narrative. They went out and got Stefon Diggs.

In 49 games together, Diggs racked up 4,189 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns. That equates to 592.9 points during that span and nearly half of all of Allen’s fantasy points during that span.

When not targeting Diggs, Allen finds his way with his legs. Allen has recorded 38 touchdowns and 3,087 rushing yards over his five seasons with the Bills.

It’s hard to go wrong even in the rare instances Diggs does not become available.

With all the numbers in mind, Allen is projected to finish as the No. 1 fantasy quarterback. Patrick Mahomes tops most fantasy outlooks, but even ESPN Fantasy Insider Field Yates won’t shy away from ranking Allen as QB1 heading into the season.

There’s never a good reason to reach on a quarterback in a one-QB league. However, if the choice must be made, look no further than Allen.

Will The Madden Curse Catch Up With Josh Allen?

As all fans can attest, the “Madden Curse” is real. Thanks to his freakish talent, Allen earned the honor of being on the cover of Madden 24.

While recent history looks to favor Allen, thanks to Mahomes and Tom Brady, the curse can work wonders in other categories. When Jackson graced the cover of Madden he personally did not have a bad season, but the injury-riddled Baltimore Ravens lost half of their starters before training camp even ended.

Rather than detour fantasy owners from Allen, perhaps fans may want to keep a watchful eye on Diggs. Perhaps fading away from Gabe Davis or Dawson Knox can be the difference between being a fantasy champion.

Or even worse, the Kansas City Chiefs come knocking at the door once again and stop Allen in his tracks. All speculation of course and it can be reassured that Allen will do whatever it takes to not be a part of the curse.

Get Josh Allen On Your Roster

Draft your studs. Allen is a bona fide stud and will be a key contributor to any fantasy roster, at the right selection. In any two-QB or super flex formats, it’s safe to draft Allen in the first two rounds.

With the potential any night to rush for over 50 yards and score on the ground or through the air, the floor remains at an all-time high. Will this be the year Allen becomes the first quarterback taken in most leagues?

It won’t be so foolish after all.
