Jadeveon Clowney, Baltimore Ravens, Agree to Contract
Clowney spent his ninth year in the league with the Cleveland Browns and, while his production dropped from 2021, he still remained a productive part of the pass rush. Appearing in 12 games while making 10 starts, Clowney finished the year with two sacks, 28 tackles, four tackles-for-loss, and four quarterback hits.
Jadeveon Clowney originally entered the NFL as the first-overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Selected by the Houston Texans, the South Carolina product hardly played as a rookie thanks to a series of injuries. In total, the first-overall pick only appeared in four games, recording seven tackles, three tackles-for-loss, and no sacks.
With 2014 serving as an effective redshirt season, Clowney made his return to the field in 2015. Appearing in 13 games while making nine starts, Clowney finished the year with 4.5 sacks, 40 tackles, eight tackles-for-loss, and eight quarterback hits. While this was a promising season, he finally reached his ceiling starting in the 2016 season.
From 2016 to 2018, Clowney made three straight Pro Bowl appearances while establishing himself as one of the better pass rushers in the game. Throughout this three-year stretch, the edge defender recorded 24.5 sacks, 119 tackles, 53 tackles-for-loss, four forced fumbles, and five fumble recoveries.
At the end of his rookie contract, Jadeveon Clowney signed a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks. Appearing in 13 games, the pass rusher recorded three sacks, 31 tackles, seven tackles-for-loss, and 13 quarterback hits. Clowney continued his football pilgrimage to Tennessee in 2020, where he only played eight games without recording a sack.
In total, Jadeveon Clowney has played in 109 games throughout his NFL career with 98 starts. While on the field, the South Carolina product has recorded 43 sacks, 320 tackles, 90 tackles-for-loss, and 109 quarterback hits.
